my understanding from the podcast is that it always rests vertically. But in a slow wipe setting, the wiper will stay at the bottom between the wipe intervals to stop the wiped rain from flowing back up the windshield.

Absolutely, the CT is like a slanted house roof from the side view, so if you put the wiper in horizontal position, it'll be the equivalent of rain ducts that collect snow, while a vertical wiper would let snow slide off the windshield and hood easily.
Iirc isn't the original CT F150 raptor sized and production CT between a med and full sized truck?
So CT now is more or less a one-size-fit-all solution to address the med and full sized truck market.
