I’ve read that before. It’s super cool tech, but a 500-mile Tesla Semi costs $180,000. The CT is supposedly under $80K. I don’t think it’s going to be that complicated in order to keep production costs down. That’s probably one of the reasons they’ve scrapped the tailgate ramp as well. What if..Elon has a surprise Easter egg under that SS shell that gives it north of 348 range…similar to the concept of the semi where you do hwy driving on a small football sized motor, letting the masters disconnect until you need them? Crazy? Maybe, but it’s #Elongenius at work. Here’s what he announced at the semi unveil…![]()
The tri-motor variant of CT will be, in facts, the two motors + the wiper motorThe wiper motor part number must be exclusive to the CT. It has to be super HD to move that BAW.
The only issue I can see with that setup, is the passenger side wipers leading edge, since it’s facing downward in the stored position, could “catch” air, causing it to flap in the wind. It would have been interesting to sit in on the discussions about the windshield wiper though. Sometimes, the things that seem simple, end up being the most complicated. ?Or another wiper attached at the top on the passenger side that moves in tandem with the lower one. They’re staggered slightly and they both sweep down at about the same time (passenger-side trailing the driver-side). Both could be stored vertically to reduce drag.
I don’t think Elon wanted the BAW, but I guess they couldn’t come up with any better solution. The wiper fluid comes out of the wiper itself, like other Teslas. I’m sure it will be heated as well. Even just those features make it seem like a superior wiper to me.The only issue I can see with that setup, is the passenger side wipers leading edge, since it’s facing downward in the stored position, could “catch” air, causing it to flap in the wind. Absolutely, the CT is like a slanted house roof from the side view, so if you put the wiper in horizontal position, it'll be the equivalent of rain ducts that collect snow, while a vertical wiper would let snow slide off the windshield and hood easily. You have conveniently forgotten that there is no wiper cowl for snow to pack into. It all planar which will make clearing snow off in the morning really painless. And parking the wiper vertically, is brilliant!
