Plus the lack of charging infrastructure makes the Lightning kinda a limited use vehicle. At least until they go NACS.
  2. What to use the CT Frunk for…?

I want to get back into RC cars and boats. To do that having a proper electrical outlet would be huge. Recharging batteries quickly is money.
  3. Ford getting $9.2 Billion federal loan to build EV factories

This is good news! Some people may complain that EV’s and battery tech are being subsidized and thus artificially lowering their price. But it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what oil companies get subsidized. Which help offset refinery construction, drilling and exploration costs. Thus...
  4. What to use the CT Frunk for…?

Primarily my computer backpack for daily commute to work plus anything additional. Groceries and other miscellaneous otherwise. Occasionally it may be nice to have a power outlet for weekend getaways with some beach time, but not a deal breaker since they’ll be one in the bed.
  5. Musk talks Cybertruck specs (0-60, vehicle weight) & production volume on Joe Rogan podcast interview (10/31/23)

That’s not the Tesla way. There are hardly any optional goodies between any models of any other vehicle they make. Options lead to variances in production line which lead to extra cost. They cut down or out options to keep production simple and quick. Same will be with the CT. They’ll have...
  6. Let's talk ramp inside tailgate...

I can understand the frustration with Tesla making lofty promises and under delivering on some. But they do better than most. I’ve seen some amazing concepts from all makers. I actually think Tesla does a better job of making cars that actually look like the concepts. In a way Tesla has...
  7. Elon reveals Cybertruck details / production expectations on Q3 2023 call

I get how everyone wants some amazing all off road hauling monster with crazy abilities. But let’s be honest. The majority of buyers of any truck in America are not utilizing it to its fullest. How can a pickup truck be the top selling vehicle in America and yet the majority of America’s...
  8. Elon reveals Cybertruck details / production expectations on Q3 2023 call

Because what they are making appeals to the majority. Like it or not. The majority of truck owners commute to work, occasionally pick up garbage, a store run, a hardware store run, and that’s it. Thats the demographic just look at the stats. I life in rural country truck world. The majority...
  9. Let's talk ramp inside tailgate...

Where I live 70-80% of the vehicles sold are trucks. Most don’t have the fancy tailgate stuff. Most are pure work trucks which are stripped down. The second most are used as commuter and not used for its utility unless hauling garbage or the occasional hardware store pickup. The third most camp...
  10. Elon reveals Cybertruck details / production expectations on Q3 2023 call

Their margins even reduced are still miles above what any car maker does. Do you know the margins on a Toyota? The benchmark for all until Tesla arrived. Tesla isn’t dumb and neither are there accounting folk. They’ll take market share and make money hand over fist with all the EV’s converting...
  11. Elon reveals Cybertruck details / production expectations on Q3 2023 call

Exactly! People have to remember this is an earning call with investors. So he’s giving them some reality checks with such a heavily R&D project and new manufacturing methods. That’ll take time to pay back and become profitable.
  12. Elon reveals Cybertruck details / production expectations on Q3 2023 call

I don’t think he’s setting it up to be expensive. I think he’s setting it up to not be profitable or as profitable as it can be until they get to max capacity and best workflow. They cant make it as expensive as a S or X because that has a very limited audience and they’ll lose lots of orders...
  13. Cybertruck casting shot from inside factory (posted 10-12-23)

The Tesla Texas Gigafactory could make a great episode of Hoarders.
  14. Report: Cybertruck official factory wrap service launches w/in 6 months of first deliveries, at $8-12k price

Sail storage wasn’t shown in the prototype unless I’m wrong. Neither was integrated compressed air. Light bar, yes. But it looks like they’re working up a ln accessory solution to that. Range and payload, we’ll find out.
  15. Report: Cybertruck official factory wrap service launches w/in 6 months of first deliveries, at $8-12k price

What’s the diminishing list of features? I can only think of two. The tailgate ramp and 3rd seat up front. That’s not really much in the grand scheme. They even added one with 4 wheel steering and maybe another with drive by wire.
  16. Let's talk ramp inside tailgate...

If you look at the potential user/need for a built in ramp in the tailgate it’s a low demand option. Probably after thorough consideration and engineering discussions they decided to omit that option. Cant blame them. Probably less than 1% need/will use it. Now having an easy way to step into...
  17. Hundreds of Cybertruck castings spotted at Giga Texas! 🤩

Your math is wrong. Remember there are two castings per truck, front and rear clips. So 2 min per casting would be 4 min per truck. Which equates to 15 trucks per hour, 120 trucks per 8 hour shift. 360 for every 3 shifts, 1,800 per week, 90,000 trucks for a 50 week year. So, they are definitely...
