I wouldn't try this without fully understanding how the truck protects the circuit from pulling too much current. At the very least, I'd hack the cable to put a fuse in just slightly less than what the truck is specified to supply.
This.
However I don't think this type of panel would survive the winter road bullets where I live, so is a non-starter for me. But a system that could provide power for camping off grid and even charge a device that could in turn charge the vehicle would be valuable. That's not a technical...
I don't think I was turning hard, but there have been a few occasions when the seat of my pants suggested the back end had engaged late or a little too aggressively. Just a little acceleration bump that wasn't smooth. I can't replicate it and it might not even be what you're describing.
My...
I find it painfully slow on gravel roads. And it hugs the shoulder more than I'm comfortable with. But biggest problem is it can't see washboard or potholes.
I disengage and pick the path myself so I can can move faster with less jarring and rattling.
Superchargers need to have longer cables - that's the bottom line. Non Tesla vehicles that use them now invariably have their charge port in the wrong spot to allow for "normal" parking. That often means parking in the adjacent stall and blocking a second charger while charging themselves.
And...
I generally use the Standard setting, with 10% offset. That generally means it will track towards the posted limit, sometimes below. I've found that goosing the accelerator almost to the floor (mat it and instantly release), it will decide to head for the offset limit.
It often recognizes speed...
I had some discussion with another Canadian owner. They discovered that some CCS plugs don't properly depress the button seen taped down in the photo. When taped, it works for them at locations that otherwise would not previously.
My adapter does not have the button:
Mine also is missing...
You said in a previous post that there were issues getting the CCS plug into the adapter you have. I understand that the A2Z offering originally had issues getting the plug connected. They told me they had changed the design slightly to make it fit.
I apparently have the newer version...
The molle panels seem to add significant drag. I suspect that the structural pieces do too.
It would be interesting to adapt the cross bars to allow the tent to sit lower, so the roof doesn't project into the wind. That is, nestle down flush with the top of the rack.
Then use solid smooth...
I've said many times over the years that being on the spectrum is what gives him his superpowers, which are his technical understanding, imagination and drive.
However, with his superpowers comes the inevitable vulnerability to Kryptonite. His Kryptonite is pretty much anything social. I...
I have an '81 RX7 that I've owned since the 80s and has been garaged since the 90s. It was going to be a project eventually... I even have a 'new' engine with actual new rotor housings (unobtainium!), sitting in the corner of the garage. But after the Model S arrived 10 years ago, my interest...
In Canada, tariffs have hit and the price of any new Tesla jumped significantly. Unless OP can find a pre-tariff truck, the additional cost to get a new one with the free supercharging is extremely high. As well, in some jurisdictions, 'luxury sales tax' applies, which will bump the price...
Can you flex it in and out, like an oiler? There were some issues with the stainless not staying glued to the inside structure of the tailgate. Tesla replaced my entire tailgate to solve this issue on my truck.
Very nice design - I like it!
Wondering if there is any movement in the receiver, rotationally, due to having the weight well to one side?
Did you use any sort of rattle arrestor for the receiver connection?
The likely reason for the lower weight limit on a hitch mounted bike rack is the torque exerted on the hitch assembly. Torque is force times distance.
When towing a trailer, the torque applied is limited by the length of the lever arm, which is the distance from the ball back to the receiver...
