It's not much better with other brands. Pretty standard these days if you don't have an appointment setup in advance. Doesn't matter if it's a Ford or a Mercedes.
I actually drive a Lightning Extended Range ("320" miles). I've burned through nearly 19k miles since my purchase in December. Multiple TX-Indiana trips, and one Texas to Colorado round trip. In addition, frequent 162 miles each way trips, and Texas to Louisiana trips. Many extended hotel/AirBnB...
I don't know how you did it. The last time I test drove a new Ram 2500 it was slow by truck standards. The range is what's holding me back on the CT. I've been looking hard at the RST/Sierra EV for that reason. To me at $100k for CT with 320 range or 450 range for the same price I'll take the...
I feel like you haven't researched the competition, or just ignoring the magnitude of the impact that a large battery makes once you go beyond basic commuting needs.. I believe Jerry Rig on Youtube just did 170 miles at 75mph towing 11k lbs. That's double the distance of 310 range pickups; much...
As noted, towing any further than local is painful in the EV world unless you have the latest GM twins or you massively slash your speed.
In places like California with the regulated 55mph speed for towing it may not be as big a deal, but as I’m sure you know, you will become an impediment to...
Honestly, that’s an outsized reason (union made) that I wish the CT would fit my needs better than the GM. Maybe we’ll get some more info on the range extender before I end up pulling the trigger.
I disagree. Efficiency doesn't have to be "everything" in a EV truck. Even the most inefficient EV truck is nearly five times more so than the ICE equivalent. I can drive my EV truck like a race car and at least get the equivalent of 40mpg compared to 14mpg in a pickup.
Tesla opening even the...
True, zero in the literal sense isn't the correct term. Degradation has not been noticeable is a better line.
Yes, 17k isn't long enough to make a dent, but that's almost a third of the way to 60k, which is about the average mileage for most people after 5 years. So unless a battery will...
Ditto! Which is a contributor to why trade-in/resale values are awful in the EV world. Although really not that different from the ICE world, just that in that case the mechanics, common knowledge, and replacement parts are readily available for a relatively handy person to do them theirselves...
I'm not saying it doesn't. I'm just saying that by the time it has any meaningful degradation, it will likely not be his problem. Further, by the time it degrades the OP will have enough experience to adapt to whatever the battery gets degraded to.
I don't know how much he plans to drive, but...
You are correct from a technical standpoint. However, OP's post literally states his concern about range. He purchased an EV with 320 miles of range in ideal conditions, 224 miles for long distance range (remove top 20% and bottom 10% for charging zone), minus whatever the cold weather impact to...
That's probably a handful of miles more than my extended range Lightning. The EV trucks that qualify as a decent for towing are the GM twins. That's what makes them so appealing. The CT's cool, but hard to ignore 450 miles of range for the same price via GM if you're the type that tows or does...
