Is there already a poll on this forum to ask what people are planning to do, such as:
Already ordered/received my CT
Planning to order when I get my invite
Planning to wait until non-FS available
Skipping altogether
Still undecided
If enough people respond we could extrapolate to all 3M...
Got my invite to order on 5/29/24 as well. Placed my reservation (RN11328XXXX) in Feb 2020 and estimate I was about 500K in line per the spreadsheet. I'm in California.
I didn't sign up for a $100K truck, I signed up for a $50K truck. Tesla overpromised and underdelivered. I still may order...
It's been 5 months since this thread. I just got (end of May 2024) my invitation to convert my reservation to a FS order, but I dont want a FS. I want to get an AWD once the price drops below $80K and qualifies for the $7500 credit. Is there any solid info on what happens to our place in line...

One of the main appeals to me of the CT was that (I thought) I wouldnt have to baby it (washing, waxing, etc) due to a lack of paint, and being made with the same steel used to make rocketships to outerspace. So much for that.
Posting this video from the Out of Spec Reviews YT channel because they got a lot of great footage of the CT construction and assembly after the launch event while touring the factory floor.
More recently, just in the past few weeks I think, Elon reiterated that the reduction in size was due to the Boring tunnels. Although now I can't find the source for that quote. May have been in a recent interview.
"This is the first truck that we're aware of that will have four doors over a six-foot bed and fit into a 20-foot garage. So, it's a -- it's sort of biggish on the outside, but it's even bigger on the inside. So, it's a -- that's a -- one of the elements of good design is it should feel bigger...
The main reason they shrank the CT was to fit in the Boring tunnel - that likely meant not only reducing its width but also its length to fit in the elevators.
