I think I saw you at Giga Texas with Ellie on YouTube....
Anyhoo, I don't think a Quad is necessary. I am currently driving a 23' Lightning, which has 2 motors, and that seems to be plenty crazy torquey and fast.
The issue is how to tell Tesla reservation holders the new higher price of...
Yes, the SALES TAX is $3500 to $4000 when you register your CyberTruck at the DMV, and you also pay an EV Registration Tax of about $200.
Plus, yes after that you pay an annual PPTax on the vehicle. It would be about $4,500 the first year, slowly going down each year as the truck depreciates...
IMO, and just my opinion, those prices announced in 2019 are out the window.
One way to accomplish that would be to not build any Dual Motors the first couple of years. (We know the single motor was quashed) and instead come out with a QUAD Motor version as the only available model at launch...
We are all guessing. (WAG)
Although, let's look at the Model S pricing. Approximate price is $90,000 plus $15,000 for FSD.
What about the Model X price? Approx price is $98,500 plus $15,000 for FSD.
It would not be unreasonable to think the price of an entirely new model, made with an...
He does offer fairly well thought out reasons for his price estimate of $90,000 - $120,000
I can see the 2024 pricing of the CT being very high. Especially if you stack the cost of FSD on top.
I suppose if there are 1.5 million reservations, Tesla should be able to still sell close to...
I would be delighted if it was $79,000 (tri motor or similar 400+ mile range). I wouldn’t be surprised to see it being more though.
compare to price of Model X and Model S
What are you talking about?
We will all know what Tesla decides to sell the Cybertruck for - initial version - sometime this fall.
If anyone still believes in the Easter Bunny....and a $60,000 CyberTruck....they need to move out of their parents basement.
PS Inflation was 7% in 2021 alone...
You are not wrong about the Rivian and the Lightning pricing.
I don't expect a "lower" priced Cybertruck out of the gate....I would guess every CT delivered in 2024 will be over $80,000.
The 2023 Tesla Model X starts at ~$98,000. Model S starts at ~$89,000. (subject to change) so we know...
I reserved a Tri-Motor, 500 mile range version. I kinda of expected paying $79,000+
But that was in 2019. We have had massive inflation since then.
I am still in at $89,000.
Over $100,000 and I am out.
IMO they will not deliver 40,000 Cybertrucks to buyers in 2023.
Elon himself said it would be "slow at first".
If Tesla DELIVERS 10,000 Cybertrucks before Christmas I would be very surprised. Prove me wrong Elon! I am ready to take delivery now! LOL
I hope too.
Yet, the reality of manufacturing is that it is hard. Elon said it again yesterday. (Especially MASS production).
I still believe what he said. Minimal CyberTrucks this year, and a slow ramp (s-curve) starting in 2024.
Even though I placed a reservation in November 2019...
I heard the same as you. It was quite interesting to have Elon mention production challenges. Also, previously Tesla has said they are still figuring out the 4680 production issues. The idea of a stainless steel skelton was easy, building it is turning out to be hard. But that is what Elon...
I have a November 2019 CyberTruck reservation.
Yet, I took delivery of a Ford Lightning this spring....anticipating the slow CT ramp would push my CT delivery date until late 2025? and life goes on in the meantime.
I will say I have become a wee bit reserved over the last 4-5 months on the...
I hope people heard what Elon said....and not what they were hoping to hear.
For example, he said a handful of Cybertrucks by the end of this year, and then ramping in 2024 after the s-curve, "slowly at first". <---- translation It won't be 250,000 units in 2024.
My wild ass guess would be...
This looks like a nice product for that segment.
A lot of people will be happy with the price point....and the capability.
No one in the EV space is planning a truck at that price point, so I imagine for quite a few more years we will see the New Ranger finding buyers.
I am not super deep in the weeds on Model 3s.
I did hear Elon say "new manufacturing processes" will be implemented when they build a new factory, as opposed to retrofitting existing factories. That makes a ton of sense. For example Elon would have to shut down Freemont for probably 2...
