As a firefighter with 49 years experience (including Chief of Department) and also a Tesla owner (MY since 2020), I can see both sides.
On the fire department side, a lot can be solved by education. Fire Departments have 100+ years of dealing with ICE vehicle fires, and in practical terms...
Weathertech makes a set of 4 "corners". They have non-slip on the bottom and the weight of the grocery bag (or whatwever you put in a corner) keeps them from sliding around. I've used them for years in my MY with great success. Not sure how they would be in the back of a CT.
Thanks for the information. I was able to add my long stone driveway to Google Maps (9/23/2025). Google took the update in a day (9/24/2025). Now waiting for it to populate to Tesla's map, then will work on getting the address in the correct place for FSD. Pretty cool!
Update 9/26/2025: Now...
And I'm with them - even with its quirks, FSD improves safety IMO. Problem is, if even if FSD is 3 (random number just used for comparison) times safer than a human driver, every FSD accident will make it appear that it's flawed and should not be approved.
But back to the original thread...
Thank you for this post/poll. I've been really concerned about the reliability and problem history of the CT but clearly (unless one gets a problem truck) it is not an issue. I suspect that the same question for a MY (what I own) or pretty much any other car in general might yield similar results.
I'm not sure where the idea that LEDs burn hotter than halogen or incandesant bulbs came from, but the science doesn't support that. For the same amount of light output, LEDs consume far less power than regular bulbs. And most of that power (wattage) for any of these lights is given off as heat...
I'm not saying FSD is ready for prime time, but the only thing that gets publicized are the bad events (which might not even be the fault of FSD). It would be interesting if NHTSA also maintained a log of "saves" reports like this one along with the log of FSD crashes they investigate. I'm...
I did login. I see my products (cars and orders), click on Manage for my CT order, click on Start Designing, and get this. No way to configure a non-FDN truck. I do have a pretty early pre-order. Got the option to get a FDN series in January.
Only in the sense that I really can't configure "my" Cybertruck as originally ordered. Still have to take FDN series or keep waiting. I'll keep waiting but still excited that it will eventually materialize
I just got an email to configure my Cybertruck. When I go to the configuration site, I'm still forced to accept a Foundation Series model & price. I already received an offer from Tesla to take a FDN series version months ago.
Is this just a bogus attempt to push more FDN series models, or are...
Hmmm, I was under the impression that Teslas would at least attempt to brake in these situations. I even seem to recall a video or two where the car did brake.
Yes, even the electronic reaction time wouldn't be enough to prevent a strike given the speed and distance, but at least it would...
I just received an email from Tesla to spec my cybertruck. Reservation # 112855xxx. They want $99,990, base price would be $79,990.
In addition to what I'd get for $79.9K, they add FSD (coming in 2 weeks - ha ha), Powershare home backup, Lifetime Premium Connectivity and some other stuff that...
