I used generic clear 2" packing tape to attach the lights to the roof and body. Use denatured alcohol on a rag for an easy cleanup. Only trouble I had was crunching a few lights in the tailgate when I was a bit inattentive.

My experience since 2014 is figure out what works for you in your circumstances, then follow your protocol - no worries so far with any of these (P85, 100D, Plaid, Beast).
