    500+ mile EV truck

I'm not basing my entire purchase on this singular concern. It's just the final hurdle. Not much charging is conveniently available for the use case of needing 500 miles of range. True when going from empty to full, but maybe not as true when comparing charge time to add... let's say 300 miles...

    500+ mile EV truck

I agree, that is a better question. What is the answer? The weight is a concern for me. Even the current weight of the CT is concerning. Where I hunt we have guys slide off and roll downhill almost every winter. The added weight means sinking deeper in the mud holes or more inertia sliding on...

    500+ mile EV truck

Who will come to market first? When? I'm not talking about the CT range extender unless it can be easily removed and plugged in by the owner. The Silverado WT4 is at 450 now. RAM is now saying 2026 for their 500 mile version. No idea what Ford is planing for their gen2 Lightning. I'm still...

This time next year: what will everyone be discussing

Turns out the answer was CT resales for $300k, line skippers, questions about when OG reservation holders would get their trucks, vinyl wraps, vinyl wraps, vinyl wraps....oh and more vinyl wraps.

    Solar cover?

There is, but I would need a couple hundred feet of extensions. Or I do the generator charging at night. Right now, I'm thinking that's the best option. The reality is this discussion for me is pointless at the price point of the CT right now. Can but wouldn't do it. I used to be on...

    Solar cover?

Nice work, but not that practical for me.

    Solar cover?

Definitely not. I do bow season sleeping in the truck 1 or 2 nights at a time. No way I'm doing a week in colder temps that way. Yup. Considering those options... actually I haven't considered insulation for the CT. But definitely considering generators to add range overnight. I just...

    Solar cover?

True, except my bed will often have other stuff in it. And setting up and tearing down a panel system 2 times a day in the dark sounds terrible....unless it's extremely easy to do. Like plug it in and roll it out. Unplug and roll it up.

    Solar cover?

Hunting season. It will be cold. Generally very close to 0 overnight. Sometimes colder. Maybe 30 during the day. I don't have a great way to charge overnight. I can not arrive with a full charge. I'll be there a week. I drive about 60 miles a day during that week. Typically driving...

    Solar cover?

Although those locations will be useful in general to all EVs, they won't really help me when I need the extra battery capacity or solar option to charge. Week long camping scenarios in CO, mid November and later, cold weather.

    Solar cover?

The current CT specs and price have already broken this truck for me. The solar cover option might still keep the dream alive. Although novel, the range extender option takes up bed space and leaves us with an uneven surface. Sure I would consider an aftermarket version. But I'm not going...

    Solar cover?

No Christmas Easter eggs regarding the solar cover. Still holding out hope.

    Solar cover?

The only reason I come to this site anymore is to see if my daily CT news scouring looking for info on the solar cover missed something. So far. Missed nothing. Still waiting for breaking news on this solar cover that may make or break my purchase decision.

    Solar cover?

SC's will probably never be as plentiful as gas stations today. People charge at home most of the time, so there is not a good reason to put a charger on every major intersection and in every neighborhood. The SC network will control grow, but people said that 4 years ago too when I was...

What do you think is not true?

Actually I want to edit this comment and say most of the time the desire to maintain a healthy battery will also be the case. So more often then not the state of charge will also limit the range, with the AT tires and battery degradation.

What do you think is not true?

True, but the tires and battery degradation will simultaneous, while the state of charge and weather will vary and can sometimes be worked around or planned for and other other times not.

What do you think is not true?

    1. To maximize the health of your EV battery you should not fully charge nor fully discharge it. 2. CT EPA estimates are based off HT vs AT tires 3. Tesla's EPA estimates are just a little inflated because of the way they calculate their EPA range vs the competition. 3. All vehicles to include...

    Solar cover?

The way Tesla designed the range extender is a no go for me. So regarding the CT I'm giving up hope on a 500 mile variant and I'm hoping RAM comes through at a reasonable price. I'm still interested in the CT with the solar cover option. It can't be too expensive and I still want the CT...

    Solar cover?

I'm not ignorant. I've been here for 4 years. I work with people that drive EVs and we talk often. I'm well aware of the SC network, and ABRP, and my own driving habits and use case scenarios. Again, I'm not telling you what you need or questioning your driving needs and use cases. Don't...

    Solar cover?

According to the unofficial tracker...39% of the reservations were for the 500-mile variant. That's more than a few. The point is that there is demand for a 500-mile variant. they knew that 4 years ago. That's why they had it as a reservation option. All the manufacturers still know it. That...
