“Hands-Free Frunk” feature not working

The “Hands-Free Frunk” does not work on my Cybertruck. I stand in front of Frunk with iPhone in pocket; and the frunk doesn’t open. I don’t know whether this feature broken in V2024.32.20 or an operator’s error. Pls confirm if it is functioning in this software version in your cybertruck or Pls advise on how to make it work, thanks.

My Envs:
Cybertruck FS VID: 2006x
Software: 2024.32.20 (FSD (Supervised) v12.5.5), with enabled: Hands-Free Frunk [x]
Phone: iPhone 12, with “Nearby Interactions [x]”)

Never mind, the “Hands-Free Frunk” feature works fine on V2024.32.20 release. It is in a gray area whether it’s an operator’s error or bug(?). It is not functional with Cellular OFF (or in ‘Airplane mode’ in other word) as in this photo (which my mobile uses only WiFi in my home).

With the cellular ON, it works properly. It should work fine with using WiFi without solely depending on cellular connectivity, should it?

weird it needs cellular...you'd think as long as it has a data connection (wifi or cell) and bluetooth, it would be good. That said, for me it only ever works when I don't want it to, and never works when I do (this in on the Highland and Cybertruck). I'm to the point where I'm convinced they've coded it to just make you look like a grocery-bag wielding fool dancing around your frunk in a parking lot.

It's not using cellular nor WiFi, it's using UWB.

Airplane Mode On is NOT cellular off, it's ALL RF off. Which includes UWB.

The use of UWB is why it only works on some phones at this time.

Thanks for clarification.
Using the UWB (Ultra-wideband) is suitable since its location precision is pretty accurate (in centimeter tolerance).

Any tricks in how you got this to work? I have not gotten it to work at all. Phone in pocket, phone in my hand standing in front of the frunk. UWB is on by default. On latest software release.

Only works on Apple currently. It's been this way for a while on other models.

There's a lot of speculation as to why, but the most prominent is that UWB isn't on most Android phones. With the Galaxy, it's only on the plus and ultra models.

Oh I had no idea it was just Apple at this point. Not sure how I missed that. Really appreciate you sharing.

I have a Fold 4 and it has UWB enabled but maybe they are waiting for more Android devices to get it. As annoying as it is to leave Android out with the original rollout, it's better than thinking I have a defective feature.
