Well dang, that's pretty genius about the back windows. Duh... lol... I'll hang them from the back windows from now on, once I glue it back together.

Send me a MakerWorld link once posted. I have several boosts left so I can hook you up with a couple.
Here it is, thank you: https://makerworld.com/en/models/899139#profileId-857772

I wasnt sure how to tackle to tail. I might not take that on after all. Unless you have a suggestion on where to attach it.

Yeah if you noticed, that’s why I had the alphas mounted. in addition to not having to worry about them if it’s just you getting in and out, I think they look better there

Pops my thoughts on the tail were that you could just put a little tab on it say maybe 3 inches long so that it could slot in between the tailgate and the tonneau cover.

Trying to sketch this out on my phone without a stylus is probably not going to be much help. But the idea is the tail would be upright instead of down and it would be held in place from coming up and out by the the T at the bottom of the tab and in place by the friction of the tonneau on the tab against the tailgate. That’s what I had in mind anyways.

Thanks for this to Pops and Dalton, I have a crappy cr-10 mini from 4 years back for printing covid shields. Dusted it off and printing this but first couple prints got hosed - I remember now why I quit 3d printing as it's so much hassle getting everything just right. But finally got the first one finished after 15 hours. Second one on the way - thank you so much for this and providing my 3d printer some reason to live again. :)

I see 3d printing has improved so much these days, need to get a better printer so I can have fun with it again.

BTW, I used hot glue in the cavities to attach the parts together and then wrapped it in red vinyl as I only had old black PLA around. With the wrap it is fairly sturdy, we'll see how it does in the nebraska wind overnight.

Welp, here they are and all their glory! Took quite a while to print front and back for both sides but the 360 3-D polygon cyber antlers are truly a showstopper.

Nothing but absolute delight and amazement from everyone who’s seen them. If anybody cares here’s the filament that I used it nearly perfectly matches the finish of the truck and is far more luster than it appears in the photos it looks as if though they were made out of metal.

Sure there might be a few panel gaps but I mean that’s kind of on brand right? 😏

Thanks again @Pops! At some point during the holidays I’m going to break out the Sony A1 and some good glass and get some hero shots! Here’s a few iPhone captures until then.

Bonus shot of LEO cosplaying as both reindeer and a cop.

Oooohhh! What’s that you’re hauling LEO? Did Amazon finally deliver daddy‘s new printer four days late?

We’re gonna need a bigger build plate!

They look amazing in Silver, I wish I had that color.

I have a Bambu Labs X1C. My first 3d printer, I am able to print each complete antler in 5 hours total. I have heard Bambu will release a larger format printer (Model H2D) in Q1 of 2025, if you are looking to upgrade, I would wait for that.
@dalton108 def look into a Bambu, and like pops said, larger one on the way. I have a flashforge guider 2s and moved into a bambu A1; it’s a night-and-day difference!

Thanks gentlemen for the recommendation, but I already had this on order as soon as I realized the truth about my tiny … build plate.

I’ll keep an eye on the next Bambu.

I know the time is pretty much passed for this discussion until next year but just a couple of things:

1. After printing multiple versions, I finally decided that they needed to be slightly bigger and so I printed them all 20% larger. Pictured below. Ultimately, it makes the antlers about 2 feet tall from tip to tail (23 inches) and gives them just a beefy or feel that fit the truck better in my opinion.

2. Do not, I repeat do not start a light show and leave these things on your car it rolls all the windows down they will come crashing down and break 100% - had to learn this lesson the hard!

3. I’m going to prep a hero set for next year that I will sand down to perfect and cover in gold leaf. I think that’s gonna look great.

Just a question for the 3d designers - can anyone make a swivel mount that's like all the chinese ones being sold on the forum here. But without dropping the screen 2 inches, maybe in raising it an inch.

These look awesome, great job. Mine look like crap compared to these. Man printers have advanced so much in 5 years.

Off topic, but yes I did this. The problem I ran into was the plastic isnt rigid enough and the screen would slightly wobble at high speeds. Now I understand why they made their product so beefy and metal. I will likely complete the design soon and get it printed in metal to see if it works any better. I will make a new post when I have an update.
