Completely back of napkin : towing range at 70mph is probably >30% less than @ 50mph
Understood and another reason the use case for an EV truck is challenged as related to towing. I will never drive 2/3 of the speed limit unless I have a mechanical issue.

It may come down to individual circumstances.

If you wish to get away with your RV for a few days but are quite a distance from your destination, then maybe an EV is not right for you.

But if time is up your sleeve and no rush to anywhere in particular, one can make do with any range really.

Nothing wrong with the people on this board... but we are more of a niche.

I see a lot of people out there who wouldn't care at all if they had to work within limitations.

oh, I agree, was just talking about my circumstances for sure. Just noticed you are from Oz - at least in Colorado / Wyoming, etc we don't have speed cameras everywhere so there's that too (I always drove the speed limit when I went to the blue mountains, except at the race track in Bathurst)!

"50 miles hr"? that's pretty slow, even California allows 55mph...Colorado's drivers are a bit faster, I try to keep it around 70mph!

As has been mentioned several times in the Club, the force of drag on the object varies by the square of the speed. So, with a little more scratching on the back of the napkin, there is roughly twice the drag when traveling at 70 versus 50.

If the trailer with batteries acted as powerwall when at home it might not be useless.

Do you have solar?

When the whole family is away from home for weeks or months any powerwalls at home are less useful except for amount of storage needed to keep refrigerator running during power outage.

What if the trailer batteries were modular swap-able and you just rented them when on trip. Someone else's trailer used those batteries when you weren't.

Another useful thing for a trailer that doesn't run on gasoline generators would be usefulfor a (Quiet) guest house. I can think of several things for a trailer that just sits there. I can turn it into a man cave when my wife gets mad. Have some friends over and watch the game in the trailer. And yes a powerwall would make a lot of sense.

Sounds like you just need a Ford Lightning to power your trailer:cool:

Unlimited budget is not my point.

If having powerwalls/batteries at our homes becomes a new standard then those that choose to have a trailer might get more use of those powerwalls/batteries as a trailer with powerwalls/batteries than just having them permanently wall mounted on the house.
