That's not a bad question. If they are just doing crash testing, why bother?

I was thinking... dangerous, I know.

It's possible Tesla is ALSO testing what kind of protection the trucks need when shipping to customers. There's a cost to wrapping the fronts like that and there's a cost of cleaning the vehicles at destination and a cost to repair any damage in shipping. Perhaps Tesla is seeing how much plastic it takes to keep them reasonably clean for transport.

And that's way more brain put to thinking about such a mundane item. LOL

Or they could be the finished product. Fremont is the west coast distribution facility. I will keep my eyes peeled for one showing up at the Reno Service Center, since Jerome has one of the first numbers. If I do see one, then we know Elon has FINALLY started selling CT's.
