Is the red area in the image the glove box lid, it looks about 13mm.

That's 13/16 of an inch.
There is a step there. The three inch line is at the wall, 9/16 (14mm) toward cabin, 4/16 (6 mm) toward interior. About 21mm overall.
Step height is 13/16 (21mm)

Let us know what your building, also fun fact about the glove box, there is a thumb drive in there from Tesla, a nice one. Found this out when I couldn’t get the custom lock sound to work on the expensive thumb drive I bought and put in the center console.
