My CT FS will get here with AT tires that shorten the total range by 30 miles. Going across US pulling an aero enhanced Alto 22 ft camper.
owners say that it only reduces their range by 17%.
Figuring driving easy and using 400 w per mile adding the camper should keep me a little under 500 w per mile.
If all season tires add 30 miles, I could only be losing 10% of range because the camper only weighs 2,600 pounds and is very aero slick.

But what tires????

Teslarati and other site say Pirelli ATT 285/65r20 Scorpion but they are not made in that size?

Michelin has one though. I would like a skinnier tire but those aren’t available in truck tires.

Any ideas??

anybody want my stock AT tires?

17% reduction sounds about for an Alto 22, but that is for an ICE vehicle.
Towing with the Cybertruck and you are likely going to be 650-750 wh/mile with AT tires. AS tires may get that range down to 630-720

Take a look at some of the towing vids out there, you will likely want to save that tire money for a range extender, propane generator, or supercharging money as the wh/mile when towing is significant.

That one is atop the list. It only weighs 55 pounds. 8 or more pounds lighter. I think every pound of unsprung weight is like taking 5 pounds off the vehicle.

The Defender is my go to tire for all of my past vehicles. It’s a great tire that actually lasts near its durability rating of +60,000 miles. I would have gotten it for my model Y if it came in the right size. I will definitely get it for the Cybertruck.

Aren't the EV tires different from the regular ICE tires since EV ones are much heavier?

Tesla indicates that the standard tires will be here mid-year.

At 500 w/mi you would be looking at (80%-10%) * 123/0.5 = 172 miles range.
30 miles on AS * 17% trailer = 25 miles increase.

All the calculations aside, the big question is the Supercharger spacing where you are going. If the spacing is 50 miles, then you will skipping quite a few. On a true cross-country, there are a few areas where the spacing gets a little more lax, but still should easily be able to accommodate even 150 mile range.

Well, it is across Canada first then back across the northern tier, probably not until next year though. These two look to be the furthest apart now on what will be our route. 101 Miles. We understand that we may be stopping at every one and we do have our aero styled hotel with us.

When it comes to the Cybertruck, we are talking truck tires instead of passenger car tires. Taller, wider and much higher pressures. The Michelin and the Pirelli are both 10 Ply and 80 pound pressure max. On my F350 I run 70 pounds of pressure. The tires are hard, handle heat well, thick strong sidewalls and much much better with road hazards and the Michelin has a 70,000 mile warranty. On my first X I only go 25,000 on the OEM tires. I probably ran the pressure too low. On my X now I keep it above 45 pounds. Usually 47-48.
CT Tires need to be Load Range E or better.

I have looked at a lot of the vids. There is probably not one that I have not seen. The pattern I see is that after the CT owner gets paste the first 1,000 miles, the watts per mile goes down too. I am seeing over longer ranges ... more than 1,000 miles on the CT that the life to date number is in the 400's. My X is 308 after about 30,000 miles and my previous X was 350 per mile.

I will be happy with anything under 700 with the camper. It is just looking at Canada and some places we want to go, we will need to be able to get over 12 miles on about 85kw to make it worry free. That is running from 80% down to no lower than 10% or 85.7kw. 85.7kw times .7kw per mile is 122 miles If it is 600watts per mile, the usable range is 142 miles.

The real thing is this. I am a little tired of EV's getting such a bad time about this. These big ICE trucks get 5 - 10 MPG towing a camper. BUT, since they have to rob a bank to fill up, since they can get 200 miles at max, that is not mentioned. 40 gallons times $4 is $160 for 200 miles. Or $160 for 400 miles. For us, 200 mile will be $100 if we use 700 watts per mile and $0.35 per kw at SC. At home it would only be $34 and in many spots in Canada, charging is free and free is FREE!

I have seen the TFL ones that they drive up a mountain pass at full throttle and use nearly 2kw per mile. I have towed an empty 16 foot box back from GA with my X and used 800kw per mile and the trailer was empty. If you look at one video, where the three EV Trucks hauled a Tesla Model 3 on a trailer, that we the best one of all and weighs heaviest on the scale for me.

The Aero of the trailer matters a lot. People with a Model Y can tow the Alto A2124 for less than 500 watts per mile when they stay under 65mph. We will probably do 55 or so most of the time as there is not a rush in our plans. I looked at Bowlus ... it costs way more than the CT but is the Aero best but only beats the A2124 by small margin and they are 3,000 miles away and quite hard to deal with and have zero available.

Making that long leg between Parry sound and GS you will need to make sure you have a full charge to make it with a trailer. Not a big deal if you live in Parry

Then if your numbers are correct, tire type may only represent a difference in fuel costs.
