I'm most peoples worst nightmare. I'm a dentist so I get to poke them in the face with needles, clamp their mouth if they talk too much and drill holes. I suppose it can be Bacon related if they had breakfast and didn't floss the meat out of their teeth. lol

We’re an odd trio no doubt. Sounds like a bad joke. So, a dentist, a surgeon and a cop walk into a bar…ouch
I feel like we’re all good contributing members of society, but if we all met up in person, we’d look more like this

Speaking of which, I have a law enforcement question I was thinking about last night.
So in Arizona, they have made THC legal for recreational use. Clearly it’s possible to drive impaired with this, but all the lab tests I know of remain positive for almost a month after moderate chronic use and even acutely for long after the period of impairment. So…how does one enforce that?
I had a guy come in last night who I could clearly tell was lit after an mvc, but testing him biochemically proves nothing.
And a field sobriety test, well, that’s arguably a little subjective and tough to nail down in court.
Is there anything I can or should be doing to help my law enforcement friends with this?

I can only speak for TX law, but DWI is when you don’t have ā€œnormal use of mental and physical facultiesā€ due to the introduction of alcohol or some other substance into your system. The whole .08 BAC level is just the ā€œillegal per seā€ limit, meaning we don’t have to prove anything else. Just that you were over that limit. Drugs are harder for sure, but basically I’d just have to articulate, based on training, experience, and common sense, that I felt he wasn’t safe to drive. Kind of like you said that you could clearly tell he was lit, but in more words. A lot more words lol

Fair…so I’m guessing it’s important I document my impression of impairment in the chart thoroughly in case that’s ever entered into the record even though HIPAA makes that kind of tough to do.
I promise, I don’t use the word lit in my history and physical. šŸ˜Ž

Yeah, I don’t use that particular lingo in arrest reports either. On here anything goes tho!

1000% agree... I think it would be a lot of fun filled with memes and stupidity.

Wouldn't that be more of the police domain anyhow? They would have to figure out if the person was impaired and caused the accident. If only we could voice our true unfiltered thoughts in our charts and notes.

Hit us up if you’re ever down south. It would be one heckuva drive for you if you want to bring the truck, but doc and I are planning a meetup for Starship flight 12 early next year. Shoot, fly in and I’ll pick you up!
