Alternative surface treatments.

I'm curious if anyone has an informed opinion about stainless steel treatments like bluing or oxide paint or even powder coating. I'd like a black finish but I don't want a film and am hoping some for some alternatives.

Bluing as in chemical bluing? or heat bluing? Heat will ruin the temper, chemical only works on regular steel.

Oxide would be quite a nightmare as well. The entire truck would have to be fully stripped to where zero components were attached to the stainless. Then you'd have to find a place with equipment large enough to do the biggest part. And you'd have to accept that likely the finish wouldn't be homogenous between panels since they are all varying thickness and have different things attached at different places on the back of them.

Powder coating would have similar issues, but you'd find shops willing to do it much easier as long as you completely stripped the steel panels for them. But you can't powdercoat without significant heat, so you'd have to remove all other parts from the steel just like oxide coating
