Yes $60 for the replacement. Not bad. I guess we can lock this.

Might as well order 3-4. The top of a tailgate is probably the most scratched thing there is. Not going to be your last.

What about rhino lining the trim piece? Or some sort of rugged protectant. I hesitate to put lumber and other stuff in it cause I don’t want to damage it…. I like my cars to stay perfect ?

I don’t think I will be making many of the mistakes I made the first few weeks. I have had a lot to learn as I had a cargo van which is easier to load in the rain that’s for sure.

A few gouges appeared and I am wondering if there is a method for buffing something like this out from this type of material which is plastic? Also it looks like a good place to maybe add a strip of something to protect it as I use it for loading and unloading a lot.

I gouged mine attaching a ramp to load an e bike. My impression is this is an ultra cheap material to use on a truck. Whoever thought this appropriate material for the top of the tailgate was mistaken. I certainly hope I don’t come to discover many other pieces were as cheaply made.

I won’t be buying another cheap Tesla replacement. I would imagine every other truck manufacturer uses a harder more durable material, perhaps employing a textured finish to avoid the cosmetic deterioration the Tesla truck suffered with its first use.

I’m going to try a heat gun to try and mitigate the appearance of the gouging.
