I was thinking of mounting ski racks (very low profile) to cross bars that are utilizing the L-Tracks so that I could keep skis/snowboards (hanging with bindings down) underneath the Tonneau cover, with the cover closed. Has anyone created L-Track Cross Bars?

components are:

amazon: "10-Pack L-Track Double Lug Threaded Stud Fitting (Working Load Limit of 1,916 Pounds)"
these go into the L-track and give bolts. It comes as a 10 pack and we use 8 for this. $39

amazon: "Adjustable Brace Fitting,180 Degree Turn Joint Connector Bracket Fit for 1/2" Bolt in 1-5/8" Strut Channel, unistrut Bracket, Electrogalvanized". 2 packs of 2. In the end we only use half of each bracket. $31*2

Amazon:
"SKTREX 5 Feet Length Strut Channel trolley track,1-5/8" high and wide" $68
This is the one that needs work... need to take off about half an inch from each end of each. Fortunately we had a handyman for that one, but I suspect a DIYer can easily do it themselves.

Then to put it together: from home depot...
DECKMATEFENDER WASHER BLACK 3/8 X 1-1/2 50PC... $14
split lock washers (was it 3/8 in. Black Deck Bolt Exterior Split Lock Washer (25-Pack))

For the L-track we put in the stud, and the L track locking thing, then the half-brace, then washer, split lock washer, and the nut that came with the L-track stud. It is a little fiddly to get the L-track stud to lock into place but once you understand how it works it is pretty easy. Once tight it doesn't move. For the half-brace mount it as high as possible on the stud to make it level.

Then insert the (cut) trolley track, need to rotate it a couple of times to get around the L-track stud. From the top put in the bolt that came with the trolley track through the top of the bracket , a
home depot: "3/8 in.-24 tpi Yellow Zinc-Plated Grade 8 Hex Nut" I think it was or was it a "1/2HEXNUTGAL" not sure...
Then through the trolley track, out the bottom of the bracket, and a split washer and the nut that came with the bracket.
Tighten everything.

We then added pipe insulation "EVERBILT1" ID X 1/2" WALL X 6' LONG FOAM SEL"

The result is that we can pack 7 pairs of skis sitting on top of this under the tonneau.
Note that with the length of the bed the skis can go up to about 173cm if parallel to the bed, or about 180cm if diagonal.
It doesn't move a mm no matter how hard I try, and I can sit on the thing fine.

Then for extra skis... remember that we are using trolley track, so just get any trolley track trolley from amazon such as "Trolley Assembly,2 Wheel Trolley Rollers for Use with 1-5/8" Wide and All 1-5/8" or Taller Strut Channel" and hang them in the trolley track (some disassembly and reassembly required). Then we use a bunch of bungees underneath to hang the skis on, and tie it to the side. The length available is slightly longer lower down.

Other notes:
When deciding on which L-trac holes to use... do place the skis...
You don't want the tips or tail of the skis so high as to have the tonneau hit it... so powder skis are either hanging underneath or bindings down on top.
Have the rear track far enough forward that the bindings can't hit the tonneau as it closes.

The large costco black tubs fit underneath and seem good for boots.
I've also bought boot warmers / boot dryers (the octopus one on amazon seems good) to plug into the bed outlet. That way my boots are warm when I get to the slopes, and already dry by the time I get home, and charging will be complete on Carv, bluetooth earpieces, and the Rekkies.
Here's 10 sets of skis with plenty of room for a week of luggage underneath. I will probably still get a roof rack to put the powder skis on top so that the space under the L-track is completely clear, and our family is still one set of skis short of our quivers for this season. We'll also put a powered cooler underneath for taking groceries etc with us.
