Would need huge increases in battery energy density too.

Even if we could make force-fields today to stop bullets it probably would only be practical to protect stationary locations because of extra weight/space of the force-field equipment and amount of energy needed to power it. Even 200KWh battery pack might not be enough energy to power force-field for 1 minute.

Small arms fire usually comes from assailants that are close and possibly almost point black close. Touting something to the masses as bullet resistant without the spokesperson/company ALWAYS SAYING (every-time, not sometimes) they only mean the metal part of door will cause many to have a "false sense of security" and some will be hurt/killed due to it.

The only way to have a bullet resistant to small arms fire armored vehicle affordable to middle class is if vehicle is option from factory.

3rd party amorers will not order enough inventory to cause bullet resistant glass manufacturers to scale production for bullet resistant glass to see significant economies of scale.

So that would have to be someplace outside the USA. Maybe someplace like "socialist" western Europe which have tight gun control laws.

The assailant, Jeremy Webster killed 1 person (13 year old child) and wounded 4 people.
Weapon: Glock 19 handgun.
Witnesses say the mother took a picture of Webster's license plate before she got out of her car, that's when Webster allegedly opened fire.
A driver in a nearby pickup truck was shot while driving with his 9-year-old daughter but she was not hurt.

The intent was not to make it bullet proof. The intent was to make a stainless exoskeleton and yes it has the added attribute of being bullet proof

The original design intent by Franz does not matter anymore once Tesla's 2019 reveal talked about bullet-proof and in last 4 years Elon's continued & now elevated rhetoric (now machine guns!) touting it as bullet-proof .

To customers, bullet-proof is now a base attribute.
