You can just schedule service via the app, they will do it.Wait so the remedy is out? I've thought the whole time anyone going in for the recall was just getting a reglue of the same old part. My driver side is coming up a bit and have been waiting to make a SC appointment. Do I need to wait to get something in the mail or can I just hit them up in the app? Got a few other things I need fixed as well so trying to get it all done at once.
Same here except for they didn’t install my light bar because they didn’t have the new adhesive ?Mine is being done. They added it when I went in for lightbar. Hoping it turns out like yours
It'd be interesting to learn if anyone's cabin has less (or more ) wind noise as a result of the recall work.Well I have had my Cantrail Recall replacement serviced here in London Ontario Canada. A brand new service centre.
They just got the parts and replaced the Cantrails. They look the same and fit fine. (2 bolts holding it on not just glue and clip)
It took them 3-4hrs as this was the second truck done. Service centre was great, just had to adjust a price of weather strip at wipers they missed, but it was easy enough.

It shouldn't change the wind noise because it gets mounted in the same location. If the adhesive had already failed, a new cant rail would reduce wind noise. It'd be interesting to learn if anyone's cabin has less (or more ) wind noise as a result of the recall work.
Of course. A manufacturer is not allowed to sell vehicles with active, unaddressed safety recalls. Will all new vehicles purchased from here on out have the cantrail issue addressed on delivery?
This crossed my mind as well. I suspect some of the better wrap suppliers will offer the this piece. I know my brand of wrap and color, I also thought of just buying and uncut section and redoing it.Does anyone know if I will have to rewrap my whole truck after this repair is done? Or will my wrap guy be able to just wrap that certain section?

Tesla is returning your truck back to factory conditions, which has been the industry standard practice for decades. They can wrap the cantrails...that said Tesla should offer to compensate for the rewrap..
This is NOT warranty - but a recall. For which they cannot depreciate the value of the vehicle by leaving you with mismatched body parts.
I do not think it is a clear cut as that. For example where vehicle repair is done for accidents - the industry has 'restored' the vehicle to the condition is was prior to the accident, wrap, custom rims, tires and all.Tesla is returning your truck back to factory conditions, which has been the industry standard practice for decades.
If someone gold plated their cantrails, should Tesla be on the hook for replating their replacement rails?
So virtually ANY modification that YOU make to YOUR car becomes Tesla’s legal responsibility? That wouldn’t stand up in court. If THEY provided a mod, such as doing your wrap, that becomes part of the Tesla package for which they WOULD be responsible. I do expect that Tesla will re-wrap Tesla-wrapped contrails. For the rest of us, we’re on our own. When my turn comes, I won’t even ask because the correct answer is no and ways will be no.I do not think it is a clear cut as that. Additionally, a recall is not 'warranty' work. The massive Takata airbag recall covered cars nearly a decade 'out-of-warranty' cars in the 10's of 1,000's...so they can't 'invoke' the terms and conditions of 'warranty' to you the vehicle owner. They must bear the entire burden to remediate the problem.
Further, this is a design oversight by Tesla and a very odd one - where parts with a 'cosmetic' aspect are in contention. They have to take the hit for making this mistake; balancing material, methods and build cost over required reliability, etc.
Consider; Tesla CHOSE to fully replace the Cantrails - and NOT repair them. - by its own reckoning/decision. This was not forced upon them by DOT - they had to propose a remediation to the problem. They could rebond the rails that you have on your CT.
If they had to replace the seatbelt for instance which is a DOT safety item: they can't replace your red seatbelts with black and say 'deal with it' and the loss of values because your M5 Competition plus -with factory Red/Black interior is now missing the red special edition seat belts...cause they don't make them anymore..
The customer should not bear the burden of a mistake made by Tesla. I purchased my CT in good faith of merchantability and compliance with those regulatory standards it has to comply with.
Mismatched color body panels clearly results in a loss of value. Tesla would not take your CT in trade-in with bare rails when the rest of the body is wrapped.
Also, Tesla sold factory wrapped CT's so are they going to hump those owners?
I wish more people and workers understood basic contract laws. Media and industry has promoted that the 'little guy' gets humped - that we assume that is the way it should be, accept that, then we complain on social media and get clicks...
My CT is wrapped, purchased 1 year ago - I've not been notified about mine - we shall see.
