Please help, I've had my Cybertruck for 2 weeks but I use supercharger across the street from my house (which I heard I am not supposed to do) this is my first electric vehicle so bare with me. I've received quotes to install wall charger outside my townhome garage and one was $2400, one $1600, and one $1300. I've heard people say it only cost $300-$500 so I'm quite confused.

Also I didn't receive wall connector at delivery, if I don't use Telsa recommended installers will they not ship my wall connector ?

Peter, installation costs for charging station installation are all over the map, mainly because the work required for different installations is all over the map. The simplest install would be at a single family home with the charger just on the opposite of the wall from the electric panel. Maybe 2-3 feet of wire, etc. That could certainly be as cheap as a few hundred dollars. If a permit were to be pulled (a requirement in many areas), then costs go up to prepare the materials for the permit, to pay for the permit application fee, and also to have a staff member be present for the inspection.

In your case, though, you mentioned a townhome. That is usually an example of a much more expensive install, due to the logistics involved and connecting to your electric service (which could be several hundred feet away)...

Can you tell us more about your specifics? What size breaker or type of charger? How far from the charger to your electric room or electric service? What size is your electric service? Would a separate meter be used or would you connect to your existing service? Thanks.

They told me that it would connect to the electric panel inside my garage. And from the panel to the beginning of my garage is 18ft.

Green marker is where I would want the wall charger and red is where the panel is. Meter is in the back of the townhome but they didn't say we needed an additional

As far as the wall connector itself, you only receive it if you get approved for powershare, in which, the hardware is shipped directly to your installer.

Install costs can vary quite a bit unfortunately. I installed the wall connector myself, and just for materials, it cost me $300, not including the wall connector itself. This was about a 20 ft run.

I think you'll want to wait for Tesla to connect you with an installer for the powershare if you were approved. This way you get the hardware for free at least. If not approved, or you go your own way, it very well could cost 1-2k anyway to pay a contractor depending on what is needed and where you live.

When getting rough quotes be aware of the "Tesla Tax" some installers will hear "Tesla" and add 40% to the quote.
If you let them know it is for an EV you can tell them it is for a Model 3 NOT a new $120k cybertruck.
FYI all Tesla installations for home chargers will be the same, Cybertruck does not need a "bigger" one.

Cutting through stone or brick also takes more time and wear on tools and comes with a greater risk (liability) of damaging the surface.

And how far does the wiring need to be run inside to get to that outer wall? What materials are required in your area? These all change the price.

The least expensive 240v charger is a 14-50 outlet. One of these will charge my M3 at 30 miles per hour. The Tesla Wall Charger will do 45 Miles per hour. It will charge a CT at maybe 20 (?) miles per hour. Not sure about the CT charge rate. It needs a 50 Amp breaker and #6 wire. As always, check with a qualified electrician to install it properly to code and get a permit.

Townhouse owner here... cost me about $5k to install with permits.... digging a 150' trench, running the wire, installing the Tesla home charger, 30A breaker..... broke even with gas cost in about 18 months.

You could put it on the inside and let the cord run under the door.

But don't forget to check with HOA, exterior modifications can be problematic. (Inside, they don't see)

Pretty sure the 14-50 outlet requires a 50 Amp breaker and my Tesla wall charger has a 60 Amp breaker. Don’t make me go out to my panel and check for sure. I have both.

People not even looking at OPs picture. No stone drilling or cutting needed. Say its 10 feet up the wall, 25 back and another 10 down, MAX, 55ft of 6g wire ($350), conduit, breaker (assuming the box has a double pole available), exterior outlet box, various, $400 or so in materials. My rule of thumb is to double it for install. Should be a $800 or less job.

Pretty sure the red circle indicates where the device is intended. Looks like stacked stone to me.
And don't forget the cost of permits.

An electrical permit is $75 in my area, YMMV.
