The sign says SMC bed. I found on Google that it stands for Sheet Molded Composite. Is that good or bad? It send to be a marketing strategy for Honda and Toyota, but what is it actually?

SMC is basically a type of reinforced plastic. Fiberglass, is the most common and it’s more of a family of plastics than a particular type.

GM used it for EV battery housings on the Spark EV. The 1984-87 Pontiac Fieros used them for their hoods. There are likely hundreds of other examples.
