I got my cooler bags from this giveaway (thanks @Teslaunch) and here are my thoughts so far:

- I was surprised at how compact they fold down, I wasnโ€™t sure what was in the shipping box when they arrived!!
- Quality seems fine. Now, no one is going to use these for treks to Everest, but for tailgate (frunkgate?) parties, Costco runs, etc theyโ€™re great
- They really make great use of the frunk space
- I like that theyโ€™re โ€™splitโ€™. I could see hot in one, cold in the other. Or one for dry things, the other for wet clothes (like after an ocean swim, etc). Or, just use one of them if you donโ€˜t have a lot to transport.
- I also like that there are built-in handles and detachable shoulder straps

Overall solid product!! And now I can save $700 by NOT buying the Tesla Cybercooler, haha!!

Hello everyone!

I received these bags and decided to conduct a thorough review. Here are some pros and cons, followed by some graphics and an animation showing ice melt time.

PROS:
  • These bags are perfect for holding groceries. Whether the groceries are frozen, refrigerated, or boxed goods, this bag provides a solution. The groceries stay cold/frozen in the bags if you have other errands to do after the grocery store. My favorite part is the shoulder strap because I now have the ability to carry in 10 grocery bags at once into the house. Less back and forth between the kitchen and the truck.
  • The bags are designed perfectly to fit into the frunk. They utilize all the space to maximize the storage capacity of the bags.
  • I did an experiment and wanted to find out how long the bags would keep ice cold for. In a 70-degree environment, the bag held 32 pounds of ice, with 30 water bottles, cold for about 24 hours. Obviously, when summer hits, this number will be drastically lower. But I am overall happy with the insulation of these bags.
  • Overall, the bags seem durable and will stand the test of time. There is one weakness to the bag design, see below.
CONS:
  • As the ice was melting in the bags, the water was seeping out of the bottom of the bag through the stitching. I had to add towels to my floor as water was leaking out. This tells me that these bags are not watertight. Something good to know if you plan to put ice in these bags, expect some leaking as the ice melts.
  • I wish the shoulder straps had more padding in the middle. When you fill these bags up with groceries, the shoulder strap can start feeling uncomfortable.
  • The zippers are tiny. While they seem to be heavy duty, they can be a bit trick to grab them sometimes. I wish the zippers were a bit larger or provided a grip of some sort for easy opening and closing.

OVERALL:
  • I would recommend these bags solely as an easy transport/storage device for groceries and other supplies. These will work well on my camping trips to carry supplies to the camp site. I feel these bags will stand the test of time for that purpose and look forward to using them for a long time.

I 100% agree with this review as I own the same bags and use them on a regular basis. They are really good and the only issue I have is the same with using them as an ice chestโ€ฆ.. donโ€™tโ€ฆ. My frunk filled up with water that came out of the stitching and the bottom of the bags outside was soaked. Apart from that they work amazingly well at keeping groceries sorted and cool on a hot day. Highly recommend.

Since they live in the frunk, I won't forget to bring them when I do the grocery shopping. Works for me. : )
