Tesla Cybertruck CT range discrepancy IMG_0443
Does anyone know why there’s a discrepancy between the same CT variants I was exploring the new inventory. I see one factor could be the wheels even though both at 20”. But two of them if the same wheels. Sorry for the broken formatting. This is very difficult on mobile

There are differences in the wheels, and also differences in the tires. The "core wheels" get more range than the "cyber wheels", and the "all-season" tires get more range than the "all-terrain" tires.

Your 523 km option probably has the core wheels with the all-season tires. The other two options probably have the cyber wheels with all-terrain tires. For some reason, the Foundation Series (512 km option) seems to be rated for slightly more range than the non-Foundation series (505 km option) but I don't know if anyone has ever figured out why this is.

Range is a dream. I have 229k on my S. Been all over America.
My cybertruck has 19000 miles. Been all over East coast. Highway range is about 150 to 175 max. I took it to SC. " we don't see any problem " one more trip next week and I will file a le.on law suit. Oh. I keep logs and pictures of it. They still refused to
Acknowledge i have a bad pack.

You do understand that battery capacity along with usage of that capacity determines range, right? That if I drive with a lead foot, heated air blasting, power outlets pulling 400 watts from frunk and ceiling, that I’m not going to achieve anywhere near the rated range, right?

Right?

Your “law suit” will be a total waste of money and time.

So, being that my beast is my seven and last truck (previous six all Toyota 4x4s), here is my real world experience. Mileage is really dependent on driving mode, retiree mode I can get 400 Wh/mile, "Jersey Cheese cutter" mode goes up to over 700 Wh/mile. So, for my long trips (4 hours or so), I plan where to charge. I can usually go 150-200 miles easily on full charge (90%, I keep it at 75% for daily drives), then I stop at my favorite Wawa, and charge up, takes no more then 30 min. If charge is getting a little low before I can find a Super charger, I dial back to retiree mode, and I don't bother with range anxiety.........and Super chargers are showing up everywhere, so in a couple of years they will be just about as common as gas..........

Tell me, if any of you purchased a new vehicle (other than EV) in the past 10-15 years, did you ask what the range was or try and figure it out yourself (based on gas mileage and size of tank) OR did you not really even think about it?

Personally, before looking into an EV I hadn't EVER thought about my 'range'...

Then, after getting one, I was concerned about range for about the first month, I was always looking at 'how many miles I have left' (again, something I NEVER did before!)...

Eventually, I switched to 'percentage' rather than 'miles'... Then it struck me... THAT is how I used to look at other vehicles I have owned... How much was 'left in the tank'... Was it 1/4 tank? Half? 1/3? All the way down to just 1/8th or even 'on the line' (which usually meant 1 gallon left)...

Now I don't worry about 'range' anymore, I just keep my car 'topped off' at 75% or 3/4 of a 'tank' AND the beauty of it is that I get to 'fill up' EVERY SINGLE DAY!!:unsure:?

Freaky weird now to stop and actually think about "When was the last time I went to a gas station?"

As I said. I have 228k on my S.
When I got the truck in August. The next day I took trip to NOLA., 600 miles. Cruise on 70, ac on 72. I got about 250 miles from 318. I charged 3 going, 3 coming back. Since then I've been on 8 trips. Each trip range has decreased. Now I'm lucky at 150. Teslafi rates it at 70% efficiency now. Down from 90% in August.

150?!? I think something is wrong... Tires not inflated properly or SOMETHING... Even driving 75mph I will get more than 150 miles!

I think it's time to make an appointment... When you go from 300 miles range (supposed to be at least that!) down to HALF that range then something's not right...

Had a similar thing happen to me with one of my old 'gas' cars... All of a sudden it's mileage dropped from 25mpg down to about 15... Turns out it was something really stupid that was causing the problem (vacuum line)...

Probably NOT a vacuum line for your EV though, but SOMETHING is sucking up a lot of juice! Rear seat heaters running when you don't need them? Something else in 'background'?

I’m sure there is a better thread to place this, but I’m a three week owner of an AWD CT and I was so pleasantly surprised with the “fear of running out of juice”. I drove from Nashville to Tuscaloosa to Destin Florida for vocation. 4 stops of 10-15 minutes down the 7.5 hour trip. Incredible! On the drive back I put in 96% and drove from Destin to Tuscaloosa in one drive without a stop.

That was an amazing experience for me.I don’t drive that long without stopping ever anyways, but it did it. Completely over my range anxiety.

5 hours at 53 mph sounds like well not so much fun. Tell us the views were scenic.

This comment doesn't take into account use case. I never did a range check on my gas truck because I could fill up my tank at anytime, anywhere, in literally five minutes.

If you live in rural areas and drive long, unencumbered distances, range concern is a real thing. You're right, when I'm near my stomping grounds, I'm not as worried about range. However, when I drive out to projects and take business trips to less populated areas it's a big deal; also with towing. Range in a truck is arguably more important than in car because of the expectation that it will find itself in situations where it will provide hauling or towing utility, in addition to having an aero design that has a higher drag coefficient.

I had a Lightning ER that had the same range as the CT. Drove it 20k mi cross country in 8 months. It added hours to my road trips, at times turning a one day trip into a two day, and it did have some spots where I cut it uncomfortably close to the range limit. I could not tow my trailer in a convenient way. Having experienced this, I had to forgo the CT for the GMC Sierra EV until I see what the extended range pack looks like on the CT. I can confidently say that 440mi of range is the sweet spot for an EV truck that will find itself in rural areas and tow anything shaped like a box.

Until you can top off that 300 miles of range in 5-10min it's going to be a topic with strong opinions. Remember 300 mi of range isn't 300 mi. At highway speeds in the winter time, that number is closer to 150mi range; 86mi of tow range. That's what I was getting off a "320mi range" EV truck. My 440 range Sierra EV gets me around 300mi range in this conditions, so in reality the Sierra is the 300mi range option.

Again, if you're strictly a city driver with occasional road trips, or someone with a lot of time to spare for frequent charging; you will see range with a different lens.

P.S. - Not here to argue, I know this topic gets beaten to death. Just like to provide perspective to the discussion.

Makes perfect sense given your use case, and when towing, all EV trucks are still 2-4 years away from ideal. Never had to deal with the rural worksites issues. I have plenty of long haul RV towing experience in gas and diesel trucks, but that’s behind me until EV ranges are better.

With AI tech dev, I highly suspect there will be a new option in Tesla app for “range extender path” where it will drive a route and a speed, etc by FSD that will maximize range that will eek out another 15-20%. It will be a compromise until the new battery standards expand range by 40-50%. We are in the Model-T era still for EV’s.
