We bought Blitzen the Beast to be a truck—a way cool truck—that would replace our giant Dodge Ram 3500 Dually. Since we no longer need to tow a gooseneck or transport our horses frequently, the giant truck had lost its practicality in more ways than one.
However, we were absolutely shocked when the Beast’s 6’ bed outperformed Big Red’s 8’ bed during our weekly trip to the recycling drop-off today. With the Dodge, we could fit the flat cardboard in the bed and keep the tonneau cover closed, but we had to put the buckets and tall trash baskets in the backseat area because they were too tall for the bed. I was never a fan of this, as it led to unpleasant fruit flies and odors in the cab.
But with the raked design of the Cybertruck’s bed and the high area in the front, we were able to fit all the recyclables in the back, giving us a clean and green ride to the drop-off.
Even better, when we backed up perfectly for drop-off using the cameras—which was always an issue with the Dually—we amazed the waiting crew by dropping the tailgate and opening the tonneau cover before even exiting the cab. They were blown away! Naturally, this led to another 15-minute Cybertruck feature showcase by my wife, who’s now the Vanna White of the Beast, proudly showing off all the features and explaining that she picked out the wrap. Sheesh!
But back to the point—I have never been able to transport everything in the bed before, but Blitzen performed beyond expectations once again. Super-duper.
It’s funny how such small improvements can make a big difference, but it’s just another reason why I love my computerized rocket ship on wheels. Gotta love it!
