Proof? Or another rumer?

What's an old first gen Mac book worth? There are breakthroughs in tech.. but only a few of the Originals Survive... the ones that due are worth big bucks....An original CyberBeast will be less than 7500 made... and how many will be left in 10 -20 -40 years? My grandson will know. I won't.
I agree, but probably it might not be worth more than $50K compounded over 40 years at 10% annually (~ $2.2 million)! Hard to say. I don’t think most are buying now to have it as collectors item. Most just want to enjoy and have fun now at this moment. Some who are willing to delay the gratification are waiting painfully. Experiences are hard to measure with dollar amount. I don’t know whether the launch edition of other Teslas are holding high value. People bought them for experiencing the first EV wave. They will tell their grandkids that the memories were priceless. Same thing might happen with CT/CBs. ?ā€ā™‚

So about six months ?
I think it's sad if you think the Cybertruck will depreciate to a quarter or third of it's purchase price in 6 months. Sure, you can claim you were only joking, but where's the humor in that (unless you are one of the Tesla haters).

I'm not saying you are a Tesla hater, but my observation is that you seem to have a very cynical and negative view of the value of a used Cybertruck, without any real facts to support your view. I mean, new vehicles are almost never a good investment, they are a purchase of a tool to serve your lifestyle. That costs money. Unless you believe in getting something amazing for almost nothing. That's not how new vehicle purchases work.

If that's what you want, go find a less desirable truck, one with higher operational costs, lower reliability, less safety, and less performance to spend your money on. Maybe you can even sell it for about what you paid for it in a couple of years. No guarantees, but at least it might be possible.

Money is just money. And it's pretty hard to drive a Cybertruck without spending money. Any new truck is going to depreciate fastest in the first two years. None of this is rocket science.

I'm not seeing why you think we are disagreeing. I was merely providing my take on depreciation and purchasing vehicles. I even provided two different situations in which I would look at the purchase depreciation differently (early life when I was in nest egg building mode and later life when I was in retirement mode). There is no one correct way to parse this, it will vary from person to person.
Yea, I think we're just coming at the same thing from different angles. But it does seem like we generally agree. All good.

Picking up my new cyberbeast on Tuesday!

I’m not concerned about the depreciation nor would the vast majority of foundation series CB owners.

of course, I totally respect those willing to wait longer for prices to come down.

My .02.
I bought mine so I could drive it for 7-10 years minimum. Why would I care if it drops

This is for sale 3 miles from my house, I’ve bought from them before and know the manager well. They typically have a few interesting vehicles e.g. AMG G Wagon, Shelby GT 500, Rivian R1 S Launch edition. They would be under $120k with minimal negotiation.
