Thats where the Mrs' can put her giant bag of crap she lugs everywhere!
Exactly. My 2013 Model S had that space and TBH< once I got used to it, it was much more handy than a center console filled with useless crap. But I had to get over the initial “whaaa whaaaa! I wanna a center console in that area!!” first.

My first MS had it as well. I ended up with an aftermarket center console. I imagine it won't be long before there are aftermarket consoles for CT.

I hope they will be aftermarket fridges for that area.

When I engage the cruise control it is very comfortable to rest my foot in that lip edge. I have tried to put some items there and they always slide around very easily.

Yeah seems like a bit of wasted space. Lots of volume there, and larger things like bottles etc, might fall out of there and get stuck under your brake pedal.

I also don't really like the fact that the design is comfortable for people put their feet there, instead of near the brake pedal, where it should be for a quick reaction for a emergency stop. I always drive with my foot close to the brake with cruise on, because it increases safety by reducing the reaction time. I've also witnessed various uncommanded accelerations where only braking helps, so being close to the pedal is critical.

A fridge compartment there would have also been easy to integrate into the HVAC. Just a separately controlled air vent from the dash to the box would have worked in most cases.

I am sure the aftermarket crowd will have plenty of things to attach there in a year or so. ?

I actually like that middle area clear on the truck. You see, sometimes you find youself in places or situation where parking is tight. So you end up parking hugging one side or the other, usually against a wall or something. And it's handy to have the option of stepping over and go through the passenger side door. Or the passenger stepping and going through the driver side door. Much easier with out the center blocked.

I've had more than a few occasion, needing to do this previously on my old truck. Sometimes, it's just to protect from door dings and that sort of trouble. Usually, you worry other dinging your door. But with the CT, there's a greater chance the CT door cut into the other car's doors.

I think it's the same one I got. I shared a photo somewhere on this forum. Here it is again incase you guys want to see a closer look. I was uncertain with the way the center cap show online...but I think on the CT, it works fine. The kids and I like it. Hopefully the angle perspective gives you an idea of how the edge is raised. And that it's glossy instead of matte like the rest of the wheel. Can easily be painted.

That is a very good point to make. The space between the wireless charger and screen is pretty tight. But to your point still easier to navigate with nothing below than if there was something in the way.
