Interested in opinions on replacement rear bumpers for the CT. I turned too sharp today while backing and slightly crumbled my bumper. Tying to decide what to replace it with. OEM (with or without insurance) or something aftermarket that may be better.

Thanks

Unplugged Performance looks amazing but those bozos INSIST on putting their branding (UP) in everything and the last thing I want is to pay full price and do their marketing for them. I want my truck to look custom but also OEM...sadly UP isn't that. CybertruckCO has an option but honestly I would stick with OEM for warranty, for aero and for civilian safety. Just my two cents.

Did the same thing! I just got a CT loaner for some service and that has a crumpled corner on the rear bumper too! Gotta happen a lot!

Personally I’d go OEM if insurance is covering it, just for the fit and finish, especially with how new the CT is. Aftermarket might get better options down the line, but right now it’s probably hit or miss.

If you’re paying out of pocket, then it might be worth comparing costs and checking what’s actually available. I’d also look into a good Bumper service shop. Some of them can repair or refinish damage way cheaper than a full replacement.

The OEM bumper and all components are what I have sitting in my shop.

I’ve got the CybertruckCo rear bumper with the passenger-side external tire carrier that swings away. I like it.

I paid full price for this bumper and I have zero relationship with CybertruckCo except as a paying customer.

It requires removing the entire OEM rear bumper. It provides a greater departure angle than any other bumper out there, I believe.

Part of the OEM bumper includes aluminum crumple zones. These things are probably what you damaged on your CT. They are so malleable it is crazy. They are almost like aluminum cans. There are hard plastic crumple zones and the aluminum pieces WILL crumple before the hard plastic cracks.

2 things that CybertruckCo could have improved for their rear bumper (at least in my instance) are: (1) the “brackets” for holding the OEM lights in place; these were not well designed; and (2) my tire carrier rubber-stopper mount’s holes were not threaded. I was also missing some bolts for relocating the speaker.

These things missing bolts were promptly sent by CybertrukCo. The 2 holes in the tire carrier module that needed threaded were threaded by myself. The “brackets” for securing the OEM lights/reflectors weren’t good enough for me. I ended up cannibalizing my OEM plastic bumper to make my own brackets from the OEM heat-welded pieces that held them in place.

I really like the ability to carry a spare in a space-saving and aerodynamic location. But I ended up having to move my tailgate’s camera to outside of the tailgate where it is now taped in a housing in the center of the CybertruckCo bumper. (There is sufficient internal cable length if you carefully unsheath the camera cable from all the other OEM wiring inside the tailgate to move the camera just below the tailgate on the bumper.). This was to correct the view for FSD because FSD kept alerting for an occluded view with the spare tire being carried. After moving the camera, FSD works 100% fine.

Now, my FRONT bumper is the TsportLine with the Warn winch. I mention this because it is steel and not aluminum, and it has slits/slots for an off-road hand jack, so that you can jack up either the driver or passenger side from the front of the truck.

The CyberteuckCo rear bumper does not have comparable slots. BUT, I’ve tested out jacking up the truck from the interior of the rear hitch. This jacks up the ENTIRE rear of the vehicle. Once up, a jack stand can be placed underneath the side you need to replace a tire on. Fo safety’s sake, you probably ought to do this even with the TSportline slotted bumper.

I would 10/10 buy the CybertruckCo rear bumper again. But at that price I would expect that the tire mount rubber piece would be pre-threaded for its bolts, I would also expect that all of the needed bolts and hardware would come with it, and they really should redesign the brackets for securing the OEM lights that are transplanted from the OEM bumper to the CybertruckCo bumper.

It has the greatest height and departure angle of any bumper out there.

If you want me to film any part of it, please let me know.

I am impressed with Roger’s CybertruckCo and his employees. They promptly made everything right for any issue I raised with them.
