I’m scoping out my options for a CyberTruck and wondered if the OTA software updates come via WiFi or cellular?
My cell connection at the beach house only shows a couple of bars, so it could be a problem.
I can drop a WiFi booster in/near the garage, if necessary, to ensure that updates deliver consistently.
Thanks for any insight!

As long as the truck is connected to WiFi, it doesn't care where the WiFi comes from, it'll download updates. ??

The cellular plan on the truck won't download updates alone. I think Tesla vehicles used to do that, but it caused issues iirc.

However, a hotspot from your cell phone is just as good ? I've done this on travel without issue. Just be sure to do it when you have plenty of time, like before bed, not while you're out to lunch.

That seems straightforward. I’ll hold off on adding an EERO until I see if I need it.

Only critical updates will be downloaded through the cellular connection if nothing else is available due to the cost of the the bandwidth.

If an update is available, the vehicle will indicate that it is.
If you are then in an area with marginal WiFi connection, you can always just pair the vehicle with your cellphone's hotspot and let it download.

No need for 24x7 connectivity.

I was prompted for the last update while I was in a long trip. I thought to use next hotel's WIFI for download. But it turned out my truck couldn't use the passcode for hotel's WIFI connection. And it was not practical to use my phone as a hot spot for the amount of data. Next day, while I was in a supercharge station at Albuquerque, NM, I found that CT was able to download the software in the background when it was quietly connected to Tesla's WIFI network. The ID of the WIFI network is "TeslaWifi-Mercury". Its download speed was super fast so the update software package was completely downloaded when I finished my charging.

I did the last update at a Starbucks. The truck would not connect directly to the Starbucks WiFi. So I connected my phone to the WiFi and then made it a hotspot that the truck connected too. It took about 45 minutes.
