A split really does not do much for value. $400 per share is the same as 2 shares at $200 or 4 shares at $100. Right?

Correct. I've had several people say this and I haven't responded back until now because I'm lazy and didn't want to explain the core fundamentals of stock splits lol.

Basically, it makes the price allows an easier entry for the little guys and gives them a higher margin between price floor and ceiling.

But...the announcement of a split tends to produce a bump, and after a split, the same stock usually underperforms. This has been studied many times...
