Fsd did not tolerate the snow and ice build up on the b pillar cameras and fender cameras past night. Did fine when going straight, refused to make turns and gave take over immediately errors. The area immediately around the b pillar cameras was clear but in front of and below it was solid ice stuck to the glass, and i did not want to chip at it and break the glass accidentally. For now, i can just drive rhe truck.
as with any driver assistant or autopilot in aviation, the system has limitations. For example, aviation autopilots will not let you bank more than 45-60 degrees without disengaging or Auto leveling. That is the reality of the system.
though the goal is to “solve autonomous driving” Tesla has not done this yet. Who knows how they will over come these issues or any of the other system limitations but thats their intent. Im sure they will try different things and see what works. Of course, at our expense. Some things will fail miserably- like the gigantic uniwiper…. And will be replaced but the fact is, you bought it for what it is today, and theres a possibility they get it right and you dont have to buy again tomorrow… but the reality is (as people with HW3 know too wel) technology changes. Its like mining bitcoin- at first you didnt need much compute to solve the first few blocks- but as time goes on, the amount of compute you need expands massively. That is a simple reality.
