There is this gap in the bedliner of my Cybertruck that I can see what I assume is the air compressor system. Water and crud are obviously going to find their way in there. I already tested pouring a bottle of water in the gap and it just comes out various places in the bottom of the truck, so I’m not really concerned with water, but I am a little concerned with crud getting in there. I already cut a sheet of plywood to fit the bed with the tailgate closed and I can use that if Iā€˜m carrying anything especially cruddy, but crud is still going to find its way in there and I don’t think it’s going to find its way out. Do you think that this is just something that is going to have to be cleaned out with a shopvac every now and then? The big bedliner board (not sure what to call it) looks like it is relatively easy to remove if you only have to do it on rare occasion. I saw a video once where somebody removed it, but I forget where I saw that video. If anybody knows of said video, then a link would be appreciated.

You might want to or have service see if the attachment bolts are fully seated or if something is lodge on that panel cover that prevents it from seating properly.

Ouch, that seems like a pretty big gap. 1/4" or larger? I'm a bit surprised that a gap like that is even possible, given what I'd hope would be the parts and assembly tolerances.

I recall seeing a similar gap called out in one of the earlier cybertruck videos, too, but haven't heard many complaints since then. Did you ask the service center about it?

If 'within spec', maybe shove some backer rod in there?

The gap is as-designed, this is obvious if you look at it. I doubt crud buildup will be a problem. The obvious strategy is to let the crud wash away to the ground. The bed is a utility bed, not a carpeted trunk in the back of an SUV. It's a pickup truck, and designed like one. It's designed to deal with snow, water, ice, etc. and be hosed out quickly and easily. I've already done so twice and it works great.

The gap is large enough that you wouldn't want to haul sand or fine soil without throwing down a utility tarp first, or else some of your load will sift out to the ground. But I would use a tarp anyway, just to make unloading the last bit easier. Tarps and trucks go together like berry pie and ice cream!

This is pretty much my thought as well, though I still believe there will be a crud buildup in there over a long enough time just because I don’t see an easy way for it to get out.

The part I circled is the only part that you can actually see through. The rest of the length of that side and the entire other side of the bed has the bedliner board overlapping the sides of the bed. I don’t expect it to be a problem.

Just get a bed mat. They are like $100 something on Amazon and come up the sides.

How did this resolve? I got my truck on Saturday and I have a gap in the bed on drivers side near front.

are most pickup truck bed liners one piece, so there is no gaps for stuff to fall into?
And once stuff falls into these gaps doesn't it get trapped in the subframe and if in front into the compressor compartment, instead of just falling to the ground?

Did anyone ever mention this to the service center to if it is normal? My gap is rather large too. Wondering if every Cybertruck is this way.

I believe they all have it, mine does as well. If you haul a lot a mat/tarp is going to be a must. Hopefully they address this design in future versions. If they make the panels overlap like roof shingles it would fix the issue.

Hmm mine has this gap too. Same area, I’ve sent service the picture. Waiting for their response now.
