After months and months of the wiper being an absolute menace on FSD I checked the glass and now see a haze around the defroster lines on the inside of the glass inside the camera housing. I asked Tesla to clean it while it was at the service center. This is how I got it back and the wiper is still a menace. Looking closer now it looks like maybe in addition to the haze there is a scratch on the glass inside.

I don’t know if that’s what sets my wiper off constantly or not but I’ve requested a new windshield now. If they would just admit defeat and allow us to shut off auto wipe FULLY AND PERMANEMTLY I wouldn’t care about the haze but if the is this the game they want to play then I want clean glass. I literally can calculate miles per gallon on my EV but it’s in washer fluid and it’s insane.

Service cleaned mine yesterday. Before it would wipe every two to five minutes. They, also said tesla is always changing it in updates.

The picture is after the cleaning at the service center. It’s still wipes at nothing constantly.

That does not look cleaned at all. Mine wasn’t half that hazy when I cleaned it myself, and it sparkles now.

They called it out in the invoice that it was cleaned, and the glass on the inside around the housing looks like they did attempt cleaning it so I believe they tried. So I’m guessing it’s a defect in the glass or something. If I can’t turn the dam wiper off they can replace the glass. I guarantee it’s not affecting FSD other than the wiper firing off constantly but the wiper is affecting me so they can fix it ??‍♂

mobile Tesla service came to my house and cleaned the windshield in front of cameras and left a rag trail which confused the wiper eyes.
They use a strong alcohol of 90%. But the rag must be clean. This area needed to be cleaned twice due to the film locked inside which caused the wiper to randomly swipe the windshield.

Apparently, they can’t :cautious:

I do not believe for one second that they cleaned under the Glare Shield as outlined in their own documented procedure.

I cleaned mine, it only took a few minutes and came out great:

Yes thanks for the link to the cleaning. Even though I’m fully capable of doing it I’m going to hit them with back to back service requests out of spite at this point. This whole wiper thing is absurd and they deserve to be as annoyed as I am every time it goes off and makes a mess out of my perfectly clean glass. Maybe someone there will wake the hell up and realize the “cleaning” behavior they set up needs to change. Not sure what rocket scientist they employed that thinks a dry wipe of the glass would ever help anything but here we are. Honestly everyone should be complaining until they fix it.
