Over the last few months, I've seen some youtubers whining about the headlights and I was wondering if it was going to be a problem where I live.

Just watched this video and I gotta admit, I'm a bit relieved. The lights look plenty bright, and plenty spread. And the brights are bright!

I have my truck now. During two drives at night I didn’t notice much difference from my X. I wasn’t thinking much about it, but it’s not so bad I noticed like some have mentioned

You also have the ability to adjust the lights. But I have not tried it.

Seems like that news was either FUD or early model issues.

Agreed - After driving in cities, interstates, and dark sky communities at night, I find the headlights to be perfectly fine. Reading the early complaints it was something I was looking out for. I’m happy to say they are nothing to complain or brag about it you have been using good modern headlights.

For comparison, I see no material difference between the cybertruck and my g wagon’s lights other than the Mercedes’ start up animation and fancy transition effect from high beam to normal in auto mode. The cybertruck auto brights have even done better in some spots than the G.

The headlights are fine, not great but fine. Unless driving in snow and it piles up on a ledge the built right under the headlights, you have to get out and clear it which is madness. You can tell the car was built in a place and by people that don't know snow.
As long as it does not snow the lights are fine. They are not adaptive when corning which is dumb but they are very serviceable as long as there is no snow.

Tesla has always been a California Car. My M3P had no option but to ship with summer tires in the winter to upstate NY. I had to be prepared with my own set of T-Sportline 18" wheels and winter tires, or I would've died with my new car. The fact the CT AT tires don't have the best winter ratings means I'll be doing the same again with the CT. I'll probably end up selling the AT, and picking up twos sets of wheels/tires for true summer and winter swaps. The AT look cool, but give worse summer range and in the winter aren't safe, they are for vanity in good climates only.

Things like icy door handles on my M3P have been issues more than once. They are amazing vehicles, but the criticism about owning one in a place with harsh winters is warranted.

Yup I love my headlights. JUst adjust them quickly and you're good to go. The highbeams are SOO good and I love how it transitions smoothly due to the matrix LED's

Nice presentation but would like to see how far the headlights throw. The concern with the Cybertruck is the placement. Being mounted so low, they could be limited in how for the beams go out since any upward angle would blind oncoming drivers. The second concern re placement is that recessed channel they are mounted in such that snow/sleet water can build up and interfere with the light projection (and not get blown off by airflow or drop off due to gravity).

The high Lux measurement you are getting in your demo may be related to additional light from the light bar as compared to the BMW. However, from looking at the pattern, I would be surprised if the CT lights lit the road as far out as the BMW.

Personally, as an armchair engineer, I would have built the headlights into the light bar and just put "fog" lights, that don't need to cast light out very far, in the lower recess.
