My CT used over 350GB in the past month

You could disable the Data Sharing options to prevent it from uploading data. Try that for a month and see what your usage looks like.

I will start with disable all, but was hoping maybe somebody knew what the largest use was, so I could switch of only that toggle. As mentioned, I don’t mind sharing data for Tesla to learn and improve FSD.

Found this thread after I got the same issue of going over my data cap. Had to pay an overage charge 😢

Is there any advice on which data upload to allow and which to decline? Maybe based on amount of data uploaded? Anyone with data from the specific toggles?

I like to contribute to Tesla learning from actual usage if the data consumption stays reasonable, so it doesn’t cost me extra.

Cox has the same data cap. I got burned twice for $10 before I had to disable the data upload.

I'm in the same boat as you, I want to help the fleet with my FSD data but not at the cost of using so much data

Figured it would be cable internet; they are 2nd worst to the DSL providers still out there.

I assume you don't have fiber available in your area?

Correct assumption, no fiber. And no competition either. There is fiber not too far away, but in our little area the response when inquiring is ā€œcoming soonā€. For more than two years already.

Having said that, without the CT the cap of 1.2TB was more than enough. And even early on it was no issue. Sometime in May the amount of Tesla data use went up. I do recall a software update after which I had to agree to some new data sharing, but don’t recall exactly what it was. But this feeds my thinking that perhaps one or two of those data sharing settings is the culprit that uses so much data.

There is always competition out there...

Oh, it most definitely is. When you have that option enabled, you are basically telling Tesla "hey, you can use my personal wifi network to send FSD training data".
