Yes, each instance NN running on different vehicle is unique because of how the NN actually works. There are some factors like different visibility and calibration that can factor in, but two Tesla can and do make different decisions based on what the NN computer to be the best action at the given time.

And this goes for mistakes and quirks as well. It really is the closest thing we have to a conscious machine so far.

Since the latest version was installed, I've noticed two strange behaviors, or indecisive behaviors, that only occurred once. The next time I went through the same areas, the indecisiveness was gone. So perhaps there is some local learning going on?

In one case it hesitated deciding what lane to turn into when turning left onto an arterial road. In the other case, it approached a light on a crest curve where it needed to be in the left lane to make the turn. It wasn't clear on the approach which lane was which, or even how many were there, so it went up the middle until it figured out there were two lanes, at which time it swerved into the correct one. The next time I took that exit and arrived at that intersection, it kept to the left and smoothly entered the appropriate lane. So I have to wonder if there is some local intelligence.

There's local updates to road conditions, maps, preferences, etc. but not local learning, no.

Tesla has stated this and the hardware/memory isn't capable of that. Different conditions produce different results.

I agree that local learning shouldn't be possible, but I'm at a loss to explain how behavior at the same locations in the same traffic conditions improved. And how it was only bad on the first drive, not randomly bad on other drives.

Perhaps it's tied to 'map updates'? I wonder if the truck sends what it saw when confused back to Tesla and the mapping was updated. But I thought those updates were also contained in the firmware updates...so I shouldn't see the improvement the next day.

You get route and map updates with every drive and periodically as you drive. The map update that is downloaded is the visual satellite map.

That would make sense, except I think that download would be the geolocated road linework, not a satellite map. I recall that the map updates were noted separately in my old Model S, so it's unlikely there was much new information being overlaid back then.

So it isn't 'learning', but rather informing the mothership and updating the fleet in near real time.

On my first drive home with V14, it pulled right into my garage. It actually chose the correct (right side door) to go into. Only problem is it pulled in 4 inches short and did not leave clearance for the garage door to close. I assumed it just didn’t want to get too close to the wall in front. With the truck all the way forward, I am only a couple inches of clearance front and back

That's the concept, yes.

This was all extracted by Green the only and posted on twitter/X.
