IMO, a simpler, less costly version of this would sell a lot better.

Some items to consider:
  • No need for the forward-looking camera; this is redundant to the ones used for sentry mode.
  • Similarly, there is no need for the recording device/ability.
  • Many people would like a view that more closely mimics a regular mirror. The wide-angle view makes it difficult to properly judge distances.
  • Rather than mounting the camera on the bumper, how about a center-mount on the bar behind the roof glass? Ideally, the camera would have some type of triangular housing, so it looks like it belongs on the Cybertruck.
Keep the options coming, and please consider these suggestions for the future.

At the end of the day, it's up to the driver to decide whether it is necessary to mount a rear view mirror. As for me, the answer is no.

I prefer a smaller view (closest to the driver) of the rear view mirror on the Cybertruck center screen and actually got so used to it now that when I drive regular cars, I don't look at the traditional rear view mirror any more. My eyes and brain have been trained to look down and to the right of the steering wheel for the rear view, where I would normally see it in the Cybertruck. I have been brain-washed by the Cybertruck way. Same thing with the steer by-wire, but that's another subject.

I've been driving trucks and vans for decades that had zero rear view except out the side mirrors. Even the relatively sleek side mirrors on the Cybertruck show a clear view of your own lane to the rear, except for the area where a tailgater might be hiding out of your mirror view. And the camera will let you know if anyone is there, even if the camera image is somewhat blurry from rainwater or road grime.

The trucks and vans I've driven didn't even have that and it wasn't a problem.

This conversation confuses me. I have driven trucks and vans most of my life(68yrs). Have never had an accident so my visibilility was good enough to keep me out of trouble. Regardless, driving a vehicle with great visibility is more pleasurable And safer. My zero accidents involved some very good luck. With the camera technology available today there is zero reason for a state of the art new product not to have exemplary visibility.

Hi dear, there are 2 cameras. If you don't want the front camera then you can choose not to install it. Recording function you need to insert the TF card then can be realized. Moreover you can choose to install the other camera on the bumper or on the roof. The length of the harness is sufficient.
