Because Tesla rooftop solar is not available where I live in the mountains due to very heavy snow loads and Tesla doesn't sell PowerWall without their solar system I had a different solar system installed five years ago and then an EnPhase battery back up system two years later. Both are woking perfectly. I already have a Tesla wall charger. My EnPhase system does not back up my entire house because I did not think the extra battery capacity would be worth the cost. So far I have been correct. But PowerShare could potentially enable full back up in tandem with the existing EnPhase backup if compatible with it. The growing impacts of climate change may make full backup more useful in the coming years.

Does anyone know if PowerShare would be compatible with my existing system? It is included with the FS tri-motor Beast that I ordered on December 22, 2023 for delivery at Marina Tesla in LA. I am awaiting my VIN. My current Teslas include 2018 X 100D and 2023 Y LR.

I do not know but I did fill out the questionnaire and included information about our solar/battery system as well (SunPower 12.5kw system with 39kw SunVault batteries-whole house backup including 4 ton heat pump with soft start).
Tesla responded with an email (generic) that we were eligible for the Powershare Home Backup installation (FS Beast waiting for VIN).

Will be interesting to see what they do……

Even with shorter days we can power our home and charge our Model Y without using grid power (Lake Havasu Arizona area).

Yes, we are retired so we can do a lot during the day, but I am still interested in the additional backup.

BTW….. we have an electric pontoon boat on order that should be delivered late spring.……

Thanks so much for your reply. I am pursuing it further. The company that installed the Enphase system at my home in Mammoth Lakes, CA is looking into becoming Tesla certified so they can set up PowerShare at my home here. There are a lot Teslas up here and more on the way. For others reading this tread who are interested in PowerShare in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, I recommend you contact Berger Solar and Electric in Bishop CA. Ask for Matthew.

I also still have my home in Altadena, CA and it too has an EnPhase backup. That system was installed by Altadena Energy and Solar. The owner Hans is looking into my situation there and looking into becoming Tesla certified so that he can set up PowerShare at my home in Altadena. I realize that I would have to buy another set of hardware, but no worries. If anyone else also needs in the Pasadena Altadena areas, I recommend Altadena Electric and Solar. Ask for Hans.

I will post my news here on the Forum as soon as I have news. Good luck to us all because we are pioneers in the new frontier. - Gregg.

Looking forward to your update. I am in a similar situation. I have a full solar system and a small 10 kWh battery backup with Enphase. I have the Tesla Universal Charger because it has native NACS and J1772 built in.

I have a R1S that will supposedly offer V2H with an OTA at some point and have a Cybertruck order that I passed on the Foundation Series but will get when the $20k falls off.

I’m planning on adding the Enphase bidirectional EV charger when it comes out if needed because it will tie directly into the Enphase system/app. Would love it if the Tesla Universal Charger would tie in using the Enphase gateway…

also hoping I can do V2H with both vehicles on the same charger, either Enphase or Tesla…
