I am taking her in for her first service Thursday. I have never even thought about the warranty.
Until I read this today!
Color me simple, but better safe than sorry!

File it in the circular file?
Total BS scam. Throw it away. It’s the typical “look official” hook. Nectarine you wonder, take a photo and send it to Grok. Here’s what it says,

No, this is not legitimate—it’s a classic auto warranty/service contract scam.

These letters are mass-mailed to vehicle owners (they often pull public DMV or vehicle registration data) and use scare tactics like “TIME SENSITIVE,” “FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY,” urgent deadlines (e.g., April 7, 2026), and warnings about financial liability after “factory warranty expires.” The goal is to get you to call the number (1-888-307-2075) and provide mileage or personal info so they can pitch a third-party “extended service contract” of questionable value.

Key red flags in this letter:

• Addressed to “Mr Sir” — This is comically generic and unprofessional. Legitimate companies from Tesla or authorized partners wouldn’t use that.

• No legitimate company name or return address — It says “2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK Official Business” at the top but lacks any actual sender details, Tesla logo, or verifiable contact info beyond the phone number. Real Tesla communications come through the app, your Tesla account, or official channels with clear branding.

• The phone number 1-888-307-2075 — This exact number has been widely reported as tied to vehicle service contract scams across multiple makes/models (not just Tesla). It’s appeared in BBB Scam Tracker reports, Reddit threads, Tesla Motors Club discussions, and Facebook groups for years. People receive nearly identical letters for other cars.

• Tesla doesn’t operate this way:

• Tesla’s official vehicle support number is (877) 798-3752 (not 888-307-2075).

• Any extended service options (like their Extended Service Agreement subscription) are handled through the Tesla app under Upgrades > Service Plans—not via random mailed letters or cold calls.

• For a brand-new 2024 Cybertruck, the basic vehicle limited warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles (whichever comes first). The battery and drive unit have longer coverage (8 years/150,000 miles with battery retention requirements). Tesla rarely (if ever) pushes “mileage-based activation” via generic mail for new vehicles like this.

• Real warranty questions or service go through the Tesla app or Service Centers.

• Vague “coverage” claims (“MILES PLATINUM POWERTRAIN,” extension through 2031, etc.) and a list of covered parts are typical of third-party scams. These contracts often have heavy exclusions, high deductibles, or the seller may not even be around when you need a claim.

What to do:

• Do not call the number. Don’t provide mileage, VIN, or any personal info.

• Ignore or shred the letter. Replying or calling often leads to more aggressive sales pitches or data harvesting.

• For actual Tesla warranty/service questions: Use the Tesla app (Request Service or check your coverage) or contact Tesla support at (877) 798-3752. You can also visit a Tesla Service Center.

• Report it if you want: File a complaint with the FTC (ftc.gov/complaint), FCC (for related calls), or BBB Scam Tracker. These scams are extremely common and have been flagged for years.

Scammers love high-value vehicles like Cybertrucks because owners may be more concerned about expensive repairs. Your info likely came from public records, not a Tesla “leak.” Stay safe—real manufacturers don’t send urgent “final notices” demanding you call a random 888 number with your mileage.”

It is not real. I’ve gotten a few in the last year. They are from private companies trying to sell you a warranty. Stay away. You’ve covered for 4 years with Tesla and have the option to buy 2 additional years for $2000 before your 4 years is up.

I did not know there is a 2 year warranty extension available. Do you have a link to details?
