How does Dirt fair in the bed and that under-bed storage? Does it mess up the door at all? or would you recommend a tarp first?
Yeah, you really want to put down a tarp because there are a lot of nooks for water to drain out of the bed and dirt would likely clog them up.

Love your setup. Makes me jealous and wanting a piece of the farm life. Jersey doesnโ€™t have much opportunity for such adventure despite being labeled โ€œThe Garden State.โ€ One day I tell myself. One day.
Plenty of space up here in NH! Houses are cheap, there are minimal permits needed for just about everything, and there's no state income tax.

honestly, I think you just fell short in your attempt. Here in my Jersey I ride my ATVs out of my house on 50 mile round trips and shoot rifles in my backyard :)

I would put down a tarp for sand, topsoil or manure but it would actually work out fine if you forgot a tarp due to the way Tesla designed the drainage around the bed trunk. I wondered why they had such wide drainage channels around the trunk in the bed floor but I found out when I went woodcutting.

As anyone who has used a truck to cut firewood knows, there is always a lot of bark/debris/dirt, especially if it's a bit wet out. All pickup trucks have areas that can catch debris and make cleaning up a little more tedious. But I didn't use a tarp and the bed swept out really easily, easier than my F-150. I'll have to investigate closer, but I always get a lot of bark chunks caught in the gap of the tailgate, that become captive and I have to spend tipe picking out. That didn't happen on the Cybertruck, all the bark chunks and duff that fell into the crack forward of the tailgate fell out onto the top of the plastic bumper cover when I lifted the tailgate without binding in there. I think Tesla designed the entry crack to be smaller than the exit path, I think on my F-150 it's the opposite. I'll investigate later.

With regard to the trunk, the wide channels around it provide ample room for duff that fell through the much smaller cracks above to collect. It's shaped for easy cleanout. The drainage holes are positioned in the middle of a larger flat area, making them less likely to become blocked. I just scooped out the duff with a gloved hand. It's easy enough that I won't be using a tarp for woodcutting, only for hauling fine bulk material like sand, soil, fine gravel, etc.

None of the duff or water used to hose out the bed at the end of the day ends up in the actual trunk below the bed, just in the wide channels around the sides of the trunk that are easy to clean out. The drainage holes are about the size of a dime (from memory) so plenty of room for finer dirt to drain out with the water without clogging the drainage holes.

I think it's a solid design and well worth it for the versatility and size of the trunk space. I reserve the right to change my mind in the future, but I can't see any reason why I'll need to.
