I tried for 3 days to get it to float, and it only lasted 10 minutes one time. Sent it back. Not worth the $250!

I have one of these. If it's near something metal you'll have a hard time getting it to float. I was trying to set mine up and just could not get it to float - kept slamming down onto the base, with quite some force (very strong magnets!). I finally realized I was next to a bedside lamp with a large metal base - as soon as I moved away from that, I was able to float it easily. Anything metal in proximity interferes with the focussed magnetic field and destabilizes it.

It now lives on a dresser, and spins very slowly back and forth. We love it!
