I'm beginning to believe that Tesla is into an adjunct business is getting subsidies.

They did it into California to push demand for their EV cars then stabbed the state in the back with the dramatics of moving to Texas while being highly critical of the state.

Then Nevada is the next victim with their Giga which is largely underutilized.

Funny how he claims he doesn't care about government subsidies/support, but conveniently ignores this huge form of support his and all mega corporations seek from local governments as bait to build headquarters and offices in their cities and towns. In the form of tax free land, and funding from the localities.

NYC residents sent Amazon packing when bezos tried to get NYC to fully fund his east coast headquarters. 25% margins on vehicles, your company should be able to pay for it's own factories without any form of incentives or support.

Same goes for sports teams who want cities to pay for their stadiums that they then own and make money off of, while the host cities take home a pittance of tax income cause they bent over backwards to entice the team to move there. Those deals never work out for the cities because as soon as the incentives expire, the teams conveniently need to demolish and rebuild a new stadium or move to another city to re up their free construction and ensure another 20 years of tax free land.

Tell me again how government support of people is a worse use of money than paying for rich companies facilities that they could and should afford on their own profits.

It's not hypocritical of Elon to take advantage of existing subsidies while calling for their elimination.

Tesla doesn't get any direct subsidies from the move to Austin. Just a pre-planned slow-slope of property taxes. It's not an income tax waiver or some such, and it's not like Tesla could move the factory over the county line and start over again (ala Walmart).

And while Elon has badmouthed California, it's been more of a personal fight between him and low level politicians trying to score Tesla clickbait points. The factory and design studios aren't moving.
