at what point do you drop the Model Y?
I'd have just made the "Y-L" the 2027 Model Y and been done with it...
Having a car that's 6" longer... makes sense.
Making a car and another car that are 6" different... is what GM did. Make 500 cars that are 99% the same.

seat options/configs/etc, do whatever you want, but keeping both doesn't make much sense to me... unless all the L's get made at one plant and the non Ls at another... then see what sells better maybe.

The Y is a crossover SUV, and the Y L is almost the length of X making it a regular SUV and it already outsells everything else combined.
A crossover is a car-based SUV, so both Y and Y LLL are crossovers. A "true" or traditional SUV is truck-based, like a Suburban or Yukon or Bronco.

A lot of people like a smaller 5 passenger vehicle. It's the best selling segment. The larger 3-row style is the second-best selling segment, so ideally automakers want at least one vehicle in both.
