The truck is very deceptive in terms of thinking it can take the same corners that a sports car can. It can't. *Almost*. But that's why people keep crashing them and blaming the brakes.

It also weighs 6,800 lbs. Make sure you practice emergency stops and evasive movements before going highway speeds.

Thanks everyone! I am able to demo one in my area but am on the fence about whether its worth my time because I know I want this vehicle anyway. These are all good things to look out for when I get it, I really appreciate it.
Taking it on a test drive will only confirm that you don't want to wait any longer.

One thing to be aware of is that 35" truck tires cost a lot more than tires for passenger vehicles, so if economics is a concern, and you really don't have many uses for a truck, then it's going to feel like overkill driving a vehicle so much bigger than you actually need.

If you are used to driving a super-efficient Model 3 on longer road trips that require Supercharging, you will probably notice the Cybertruck takes about 1.6 times as long to add the same amount of range (rough number). And the cost of energy per mile is about 1.6 times as much too.

That said, it's so nice to drive you will probably overlook those things.

Considering the Dual Motor Cybertruck has a payload capacity of 2500 lbs. and a 123 kWh battery, it's actually surprisingly light at 6,634 lbs (and 6,863 for the Beast). Sure, it's heavier than a smaller passenger car, but considerably lighter than even smaller EV trucks like the Rivian. It's even lighter than a number of gas trucks with less payload capacity, especially when you consider the Cybertruck's weight is quoted with the motorized tonneau cover and 4-wheel steering. Even more surprising when you consider it doesn't have thin aluminum bodywork like a F-150 or thin steel bodywork like many of the rest, meaning it's considerable tougher and more damage resistant.

Your point is valid because the weight is deceptive, it doesn't feel like it weighs over 6,600 lbs. when you drive it. But I would think any rational person would put a new acquisition through its driving paces to see how it responds to braking in a corner, braking in a corner in the rain, accelerating out of a corner, etc, so they know what to expect in an emergency. At least I'm not comfortable driving a vehicle that's new to me, even a rental car, until I test the braking and cornering a bit. Because it's my life, and or my family and friends lives, that are on the line.

But of all 1/2-ton trucks out there, I think the Cybertruck has the fewest surprises when pushed hard by a person not accustomed to driving trucks.
