Unlikely. It's probably they're using it to instead of detect things vision cannot, measure more exact distances to things vision identifies.I’m wondering about the possibility of an alternative use of this new radar.
With the virtual world that FSD builds from the cameras currently, I wonder if this new radar could be accurate enough to build the virtual world in such a way that Tesla vehicles could be used to provide the data necessary for other robotaxi companies.
The other companies are using radar to map sections of a city to allow those taxis to know where everything is. But with a ton of Teslas running around collecting real-time location data, could this data be converted to the necessary format to sell to these other robotaxi companies? Could this be yet another income stream for Tesla?
