Folks above mentioned 4pin vs 7pin stuff. My trailer is actually 7 pin with electric brakes. There are indeed no backup lights on it. Relatively large trailer too - 3500lb dry (14k GVWR), 22ft long.
Oh, it might be the electric brakes that trigger the reverse light check.
@zeusss, do you have e-brakes?

My small trailer doesn't have breaks.. My large trailer has electric brakes and I didn't get any errors in reverse with either. Both are 7 pin.

Does the big trailer have reverse lights?
(Sorry if you mentioned this earlier)

I want to do it so I can go to a parking lot, when it’s snowing and have a little fun.
But it is actually helpful when backing a trailers, it’s why pushback tugs have the steering in the “back” when pushing planes back. What they need is a way to disable front steering when backing with a trailer.
Not sure I am tracking here. The couple times I she towed with the Cybertruck having the rear wheel steering made it a dream to back in the trailer. I would never want to disable that for backing up a trailer. Maybe I am not understanding, I’m truly not trying to be challenging or difficult.

You’re correct, I’m saying that having rear wheel steering makes it easier to turn a trailer. If anything, you might want to disable the front steering while backing a trailer(the same way a plane pushback tug works). I was also saying the only time I would want to disable rear steering was in the snow, in a parking lot, just to have some fun drifting.
