If I just pay, and then say I'm coming in 3 weeks, they won't refuse and send me back the money and release my CT right?
I think its all local dealer dependent. You can go talk to the person in sales and tell them. Also once you get VIN if you pay, I do not think they can do anything, you can just overlook the delivery date (since you need to schedule it), and put in messaging app that you are still trying to get insurance etc. I am sure its possible.

I was only offered one of two days, this Friday, Saturday or Sunday... there was a huge list of TIMES, but the days were limited to those.

Once your VIN is assigned, the spot on your app to schedule delivery opens up. I am assuming if you know what your schedule is, then you can schedule the delivery of your vehicle when you are available.

Is that what you are asking?
This I know. I am asking if I am still away on vacation while the VIN is assigned and I am a very long time from coming home, can I schedule a delivery for 3 weeks away from that time as an example? People have said they only get options for a window of a few days after the VIN gets assigned so there's not much for extending it out beyond that.

I just wonder if I have paid by this time, and I cannot pick it up within this small window, would they be able to just hold that car for me so that when I return, I can pick it up. Some say they would release the VIN to someone else and then I'd get a new VIN and others say not. I'm guessing no one knows for sure. It seems like they would not want that car sitting on the lot for 3 weeks but just wondering if they could help me out in that case by holding onto it until I get back instead of making me wait for another VIN for potentially many weeks or months.

I hope I am near the tail end of my vacay when they assign me the VIN then! That way I come home and it's ready for me.

Best of luck! Try to enjoy your vacation, best you can. We only get these moments once...

You just keep wishing that you are going to hear anything besides no.
You may even get a no, but that is not the common experience. This goes back to the Model 3 days when folks were on month long European vacations, their vehicle reassigned.
If you work with the delivery team, they may make the impact low, but you'll have to get rescheduled for another vehicle.

And it's possible that they may cut off the current version when they move to the grey.
