Yes, our X open soon on approach. I like just open, easy and better then running out and explaining people how to open doors or open for them when you walk to the car. We use CT for business and always new clients in with no idea how to get in.
People are always confused (mostly because they think it’s going to be a soft touch) but what I tell them (after they found or I have directed them to the button) is, “push it like a microwave.”

Everybody gets it right away. 10% royalties if you use it and it works! ?

Using less sprayway now. Absolutely love the door open feature. You do have to be fairly close

The use case for which the ability to open the passenger door from the main screen: a passenger is approaching the truck while carrying things with both hands and/or it is raining and/or you are in a hurry. I had these kind of situations occur many times with my X and the ability for the driver to open the door as the passenger approached was super useful. It has nothing to do with how the door switch operates.

I hope they release an update that allows for auto open doors when approaching vehicle. Sort of like the Tesla Model X.

Close to 0% chance this occurs because they cannot close on their own. The MX will prop open the door anytime someone passes with a phone, but if no one is entering, can close again. The CT cannot do that. Wes spoke about this before. He basically offered (eventually) the option to pop the doors like the 3/Y and we got that.

How will it distinguish between your intention to get in the truck and just walking by the door? Maybe a button you can pressed in the app that says something to the effect of "I'm planning to leave here in (X) minutes"?

And maybe it can also pre-cool/heat the cabin?

The same way Tesla Model X distinguishes it.

Well it can be an option that the user can decide and take the risks

Indeed! Very nice. There should also be an option to it from the main screen inside the truck.
What is the reason to be able to do it from the app and not on the screen? I frequently sit in the driver seat and need to open that front or rear passenger seat because the door doesn't open when someone is pushing to open the door.

I was picking up someone in the CT just now, and she couldn't open the door (probably not pushing hard enough), so I opened the app on my phone (while I was sitting in the driver's seat) and in the Control section, there were no arrows to open the doors.

Update: Today, I found it works when standing outside the CT. Once I got in, the arrows were gone. I don't see why I would ever need to use this on my app when standing outside the CT. I only need it on the main screen to quickly open a door for someone who wants to get in.
